I want to use an old pc, windows 98, to run as a music server for my multi room audio system. I have it running on my pc at the mo, but I want use a dedicated pc for it. Can I set up the old pc, without a screen. What operating system would i need to operate this. It will be networked through a network, so I will be able to add music this way.
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

I guess it depends on what software you are using to stream.

You could just install tightVNC for remote desktop access and run the system as-is.

I am currently using jriver as the source connected with a little program called cav66, to connect it to my russound cam6.6. Would I be right in saying if i try to use win xp without a monitor, it wont work. Is server software designed not to use a monitor?
