dont buy amd. get an intel for same money and much better performance. Also you could save a nice bit buy not buying vista ultimate get the next one down.

Id have to agree, go with a intel core 2 duo, and just get vista home, there is no difference in performance between that and ultimate. I would also change the psu from a tagan to something else. They are known not to be the most reliable out there. Corsair do a nice 500w psu, which is actually made by seasonic and just branded by corsair, i have the 620w version. And i find it fantastic.

    thanks for the replies.

so for €1400 what cpu, mobo and memory would you lean torwards then??

and should i go for 64 bit version of vista home premuim??

A abit ip35pro as the motherboard

Intel E6850 for the cpu or a E6600. Or if you want to go quad core get a Q6600

Ocz xtc ddr2. or Geil black dragon ram or crucial ballistix. Make sure its either ddr6400 or ddr8500. ddr 6400 for the E6600 and ddr 8500 for the E6750 and the Q6600. Tight timings do not matter like they do with AMD chips, but the tighter they are the more you can squeeze out of the ram from overclocking.

You will only need a 64bit operating system if you are going for more then 2gb. Though ram being so cheap at the moment i would suggest getting 4gb and 64bit vista.

And remember since you are buying a complete pc you are entitled to OEM software. The only difference between OEM and Retail is OEM comes with no box and usually a cut down manual. At a significantly lower price.
