Sky Is Rubbish!!!!!!

This was sent today to Sky feedback - I don't think I get a response somehow!

To say I am not impressed with your level of customer service is an understatement! Not only do I get misinformed but when calling back to confirm details on Multi-room I am unable to get the right number from the website or via the digi box. This means I have to contact the call centre. Where I give them my viewing card number and confirm my address - which is in Ireland - and they quote me prices in gbp or cannot give me the correct price in Euros. I have now spent over an hour and a half trying to get through to the correct dept,(got hung up on 3 times) only to get frustrated and hang up. This is an extra package that I am adding and I am unable to contact your sales team to do so. So this leads me to think you are either earning enough money not to need the business or you are hugely understaffed. I would great appreciate someone contacting me to discuss this further (I will be very surprised if someone actually bothers to answer)and you will find this posted on boards.ie

Yours soon to be a NTL customer

Maybe you should have called the thread "Sky Customer Service is rubbish"?
Send an e-mail to James Murdoch's team explaining your problem and I'm sure you'll get results.

I am absolutely appalled to hear of the level of incompetence from a member of my staff towards the original poster. I can assure you that this is not any indication of the way in which this organisation was founded. I will make it my personal mission to ensure that in future there is no such further misunderstanding, and that the extraction of your money into my account will be as seamless as is possible.

I hope your second post is more useful than this one.

    I agree totally.

My advice would be to kiss and make up with Sky because it may just end in tears if you go with NTL!
We were with NTL for a few years, changed to Sky two years ago. We find it's better value for money, and the customer service is usually far superior - by a long shot. Also, NTL was constantly breaking down, for long periods, or just some days you'd switch on and the reception would be poor.
Is this the number you have - 0818 719811 from Ireland.

It must be wonderful to actually be able to talk to Sky when you have a problem, NTL only seem to have 1 or 2 people answering phones, you listen to a recording for an hour or so then get dropped into another queue, if you do finally get through the operators are rude, they tell you big porkies about things like crediting your account for service outage, these guys do not need or deserve your hard earned cash

So far Sky has been great, the quality is better and Skt+ has changed the way we look at TV in our house

Don't do it...you'll regret it...maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow , but someday....I rather put up with poor Customer Service than a poor product...

Imagine backing a company like NTL into your home, a company so incompetent that they still have no PVR offering (a la Sky+).....how long has Sky+ been on the market...3 or 4 years....

NTL are a lazy, lazy company...they deserve nothing...nothing....good day sir!!

eh.......NTL do have a PVR offering, not as good as Sky+ though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭coupland

What they have is a load of rubbish....if they had an offering that could compete with Sky, they'd have been plugging it on radio,TV and pigeon carriers by now....no series link....and this story is typical of NTL's track record for their call out service....

Just add my name to the pot...I left NTL (and not quick enough) due to their really really bad signal and hence picture..their customer service was ok, tech support non existant and their call-outs irregular...Stick with FTA and if needs must, Sky

I'm another who left NTL due to their bad service. I think it was about 18 months ago and they've not even bothered to pick up their STBs. Should I send them a bill for storage? ;)

We have found Sky to be good, even the customer service weren't bad the couple of times they were contacted.

Sky usually has good customer service the odd time I have to ring them every year to order prem + and the like. We have NTL too cos there's too many tv's to pay for multiroom and it's very bad reception on these ones. The sound went on Setanta for about 3 weeks and they only emailled me back after 5 weeks to ask me my customer number even though it was gone on every persons house in the area.
In the end some clown told me he was not 'stupid' after I accused Customer Service staff of being as thick as a plank and he was only working there part time to study to be a doctor, if you seen the mail he sent back you'll be hoping he won't get that far because he nearly seemed to be illiterate.

So to sum up don't even bother going near NTL they are a shower of *****!

I'm delighted I left Ntl last year, they were so bad it's hard to describe. I'd recommend SKY over Ntl anyday.

Wow, interesting to see how NTL treat customers in Ireland! I had NTL cable TV and broadband in Cambridge for 1 year. During that time the digibox burned out and was replaced within 2 days. The network connection dropped and when a call to customer support failed to solve the problem they sent out an engineer who solved the problem within about 20 minutes. They also colelcted my set-top box and cable modem within 3 weeks of cancelling.

It just goes to show you what serious competition can do for service!

As for Sky, I had a contract with them in Ireland and in fairness to them they responded quickly to the one issue I had with them before I cancelled the service when moving to England.

I agree. Competition is seriously lacking in so many industries in Ireland. It's a totally different world from the UK in this sense. In Britain, there are so many companies fighting one another over price and product, be it broadband, telephone, television, electricity, gas (to name but a few). It just doesn't happen in Ireland.. yet.
