South Park in Irish.. brilliant :D, they're showing season 1, episode 1 now.

But isn't it a bit early in the day for South Park? (6:30).. do they get away with more because it's in Irish or something?

Hearing Cartman screaming "ahh! mo hon!" is hilarious. Pity that's about all I understand though :-/

    Shít, is it over?

But it was bleeped too. I know in that episode that when Kyle is screaming at the aliens, that it's beeped in the proper version, but they were bleeping moments in it earlier too.

I really enjoyed it, if you're a fan of the show you don't really need subtitles.

Hope this does well for TG4

That was an interesting experience. I was a bit surprised it was on so early tbh, but I was more surprised that I actually understood a large percentage of the Irish.
Some classic TG4isms in there though "Cá bhfuil na haliens? Beidh Ros na Rún ag tosú i fiche noiméad!"

    Any trailers, promos on Youtube?

ros na run is nowhere as good as terrance and phillip tbh.

i missed this, but i'm guessing they started with "cartman gets an anal probe" judging by na haliens. :D

Absolutely can't wait to see this.

Sunday at 6.30? I'm there! I'll watch it in work....awesome. Just when I thought Pimp my Ride and Teen Titans as Gaelige were as cool as it could get...

    Monday at 6.30, actually.

thats way to early for that show, what were they thinking, why show it at that time and then neuter it by bleeping it (were there any cuts?), maybe there are only doing a sanitised version of the show...

it nicely bizarre that they are showing it in irish, I think the show is both really crude and highly intelligent... but showing at this time is going to back fire, we should email tg4 to get them to put it on later, only that will save it...

when the earliest it was shown on c4 or mtv?

is there some sort of kids watershed around 7pm? I think alot of youg kids we'll still be up my sister in law doesn't let her kids(ages 3 and 5) even get glimpse of the simpsons in case they start wanting to watch that, and confuse it as kids shows.

No need to email. It will be shown in a later time slot as well as the 18.30 one.

I lolled a bit, but mostly because of the fact that it's in Irish.

Re the censorship: nobody watches TG4 anyway (slight hyperbole), and children are definitely not going to get some of the gags. My only problem though is the use of 'cac' for 'sh1t' - it's pronounced just like 'co(k'!

oh, go hiontach. hopefully more of the irish will stay between my ears soon. Why the beeping, I didn't realize that the concept of swearing was a taboo as gaeilge. damm it.

dont think its a "pure" translation from the english script...heard chef talk about a "smokey bacon burger ás Supermacs" yesterday :):)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

It is most probably the script is adapated for use as gaeilge.

Also a Ros na Rún reference thrown in there. Hmm... product placement and shameless self-promotion ... TG4 are getting their act together!

True, the supermacs reference was lame, as was the ros na run.......how many episodes are they goin to do??

Can't believe I missed this. Any weekend repeats?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

I emailed tg4 about a couple of things

    I asked

Isn't 6:30pm a bit early for South Park and I asked about cuts and bleeping?
We’ve tried to strike a balance by customizing the scripts to suit the target audience. If something is not suitable and must be included, we play that episode late at night on Tuesdays.

I still don't think they should play cut episode at all defeats the purpose.

    -

    ? is there a evening/children watershed?
We have a schoolkids slot, Cúla4 during the afternoon. At 5.30pm we start our teenage slot, Síle, and announce that the content is not suitable for kids under 12

Why no English subtitles on your cartoons?
Cartoons are aimed at kids, not their parents and the research indicates that kids like action and sound in their cartoons and do not like subtitles as they distract.

lol :o ah I want to watch the justice league but I don't understand it ... :o

I emailed abumedia about videos of them do the dubbing they said they have on their site no luck yet.

It's on three days a week with constant repeats. Just check the tv schedule and you'll see it.

what a waste of taxpayers money dubbing it in Irish, it would have been better spent showing some new films instead of the Westerns they keep repeating. I thought Robot Wars would be the only think they dubbed into Irish, they must have more money than sence.
