    Hi all,
Sorry if this has been coverered before but does anyone have rough guess of Architects fees for the Wicklow/Kildare area? This would involve, completely designing house to dealing with the planning until FPP is got.

    Cheers...

The drawings for the planning app will cost 3000 to 4000 plus vat plus about 300 for expenses and this is payable, in most cases, on submission which means that if u get refused, they still paid and if there is extra work involved, thye get paid more.

The construction drawings will normally be extra.

Supervising the build can be 7% to 10% plus vat of the contract price: it really depends

The cost of actually designing the house will be a function of the time involved.

This recent thread may give u food for thought:

    Hi,

Can people comment/confirm/disagree with the subject. Had (another) architect down for a quote for planning drawings etc.

He said that currently (I live in Kilcoole in Wicklow), it is €300 sq ft for building an extension. Last architect said it was €1000 sq mtr, so someones sums are incorrect. I questioned this architect about it, in case he was wrong but he was pretty insistent.

At those prices, building even a small extension would ridiculously expensive, I'm hoping to put on 1100/1200 sqft extension (nice big side garden).

    Thanks in advance.

    Those prices are totally ridiculous.

I cant see why you wouldnt get it done for circa €100/sq. foot. Probably less if you shop around. Sanitary ware, kitchen/utility room units, built in wardrobes etc would obviously be extra.

Yeah, that's what I thought to be honest.

    Thanks for the replies fellas.

An extension is generally more expensive per sq ft than a new build, the larger the extension the closer to the new build price you will get, a very large one might even go below it. The OP is building a large extension, so imo €300 is very high

    edit:;)
