Hey, so I just finished watching all the episodes of Firefly last night... Also watched Serenity as well...

Really enjoyed both, esp. the tv series... It is an awful pity that they never got to finish the original tv series, it was brilliant (in my opinion anyways)

Very odd mix of space stuff & westerns, cool though...

Anyone else watch it? Seemingly there's a chance of a sequel to Serenity if the sales of some special edition version of Serenity on dvd goes well... That would be sweet...

Wrong. It has everything to do with DVD sales. Firefly was canceled mid-season by FOX TV to the dismay of its fairly substantial fanbase. When it hit DVD, the sales were astronomical, especially for a show that died so soon after being released. That's why Universal bought the movie rights: the DVD sales held promise of a bright new franchise. Unfortunately for them, the marketing and the time of release killed off any hope of a similar success story.

    Now read this:

"So give me hope for a Serenity II"

"JW: Hope for it probably rests with this DVD."

Joss is referring to the recently-released (and awesome, i bought it and it rocks) 2 disc US DVD of Serenity. Interview found here:

    http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2007/08/07/joss-leaves-door-open-a-crack-for-serenity-ii/

This trilogy talk was mere rumour. Joss only hinted at the sequel when the movie was due to come out (mentioned a very dark prologue sequence, and how two characters would be making a return). Trilogy-speak seemed to originate from the so-optimistic-God-bless-them Browncoats (similar to trekkies, but more eager and nerdy).
