    Hi guys...

I thought Id maybe get a thread going for tech-heads to show us what we need to be looking out for and how we go about fixing things that need fixing.

Personally, i seem to have a damaged hop-up as its rolled all the way back and im still getting significant dip and sway. Problem is, ive no idea where to get a hop up, which type i need, how to fit it, and how to look after it! Can anyone clear that one up??

Also....any other tech type things that one should be looking out for when starting out? Any text book type of advice for the noob who has bought his aegs, and has actually skirmished would be welcome!

    Cheers

    Ed

thanks to Boston for sending me a nice M4 surprise in the mail earlier... that explained quite a lot and served to frighten my credit card even more...

after a bit of reading i DO reckon my hop-up needs replacing, and i still require a small bit of explanation on it.

    whats this? http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=20164

    and whats this? http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=17017

how do they go together, and how do i fit them? :)

the h-hop is a new type of hopup nub which replaces the standard cylindrically shaped one and applies more even pressure/backspin to the bb, personally i haven't tested one yet, but i do have two on order

the standard hopup rubber is probably your easiest replacement

the h-hop goes up inside the hopup unit, whereas the hopup rubber goes over the end of the barrel, the small little bit on the right hand side of the image for the hop packing is what the h-hop replaces

ah, so instead of providing a 'squeeze' on the bb to give it spin (the little rubber on the right) the h-hop is giving the bb a nudge? is that sort of right?

[edit] wheres best to order these lads from?

basically the difference is the way the h-hop contours around the bb, see attached image, h-hop on left, normal on right

So basically it gives a more stable backspin rather than a wobbly one?

hi guys i know this is a little off topic but hope ye can help.I'm new to airsoft and only hav a mach11 blowback at the mo. My younger bro went whole hog and got A Steyr civilian and an AKS both by JG. He bought a chronograph too.Heres the prob, the chrono on fps clocks the ak at 350fps and the steyr at 330fps,then turning the dial to joules selection gives a reading of .5 joules. Both these guns were chrono'd wit .2grambb's. These discrepencies make me wonder if he got the right chrono, does he have to use a formula to calculate the joules ? I know that the should not exceed 328fps and wonder if you guys can help with advice, or can point me in the right direction.Would be much appreciated:confused

Its a DBoys mate yeah.... I might not be around this sat liamo, but thanks for the offer mate - i might take you up on it.

I had thought it might be a nackered nub and didnt envisage requiring a new chamber set. Its definitely got a heavy dip on the BB at max position on the hop-up so something's a miss for sure.
