A pub I used to work at, The Sheaf O' Wheat in Coolock used to have Harp on tap, when it(the pub) was owned by Giunnesses.

Dunnes sell a can beer just called 'German Larger'. Its lovely tack.

Anyway it was posted here by Degsy and a few others that its actually HARP recanned.

Whenever I go to Northern Ireland I drink Harp, IMO its good stuff.

Whatever happened to it? It used be advertised all over the place in the 80's and now its in the cheap range at the off license... 6 cans for €7 etc.. its grand stuff.

They changed the brew in the late early 90's and it was a disaster. After a couple of years they reverted back but the damage was done and the good rep was gone. I used to enjoy their adverts. It's widely available in Duindalk anyway, don't know about Dublin but I have seen it there.

Yes Harp larger had gained a bad repution since a guy fell into a brewing vat (about 20 years ago or s0)

they couldn't give the stuff away after that :):)
