This was a really great session. Thanks to Jason for showing up (albeit it a bit late :-) ) and to Paddy for organising it.

I showed up figuring it'd be pretty hands off and even wore a tracksuit pants so I wouldn't be cold. No fear of cold there. Great seminar and a great workout to boot.

thanks very much jason and paddy for organising this :)

have done an olympic weight lifting course and a little bit of kettle bell training but never realised the depth of exercises/movements you could do with this versatile piece of equipment.

although far far from competitive shape i'd consider myself in 'ok' training shape right now....until about 10mins of swinging the bell around

great informative workshop and i really enjoy training any sport where the coach has a genuine passion for what they're teaching and passes this on through the training as was the case with jason.

Like Shane, I wasn't sure how much working out the course would involve, or whether it would be more of a technical 'how to' sort of thing. Well, it definitley provided my Workout Of the Day...

I've really just started resistance training as part of Crossfit over the past couple of months, but it was interesting to see how some of the lifting movements I'd learned applied to the kettlbells, but also how the specific characteristics of the kettlebells changes things alot.

Good fun, thanks to Jason for coming down and Paddy for organising it.

    What are kettlebells?

Same. What's the big deal about them over your usual weights?

You wont know the differnce until you give them ago, under propper coaching. They are a great tool,to add to any sports man or woman and like I've said before you cant do the same movements with dumbbells ( they are the baby sisters,of kettlebells ) Along with dead lifts, pull ups and sprints, tabata sessions......you can easily have an all year round training programme that you arent go'en to get bored with.Along with the fact, that to move to 32kg's for 10 mins you have to be one hell of a sportsman. As the training group at SBG found out usen a 1X16kg in taxen on the whole system.Any body that adds these to there training for a 3 month period, will always want to have them as a sessional tool....in perfecting there personal goals.Along with the fact, there are competitions in kettlebell lifting. If your sayen your strong and fit...in this sport you've got no where to hide, give them ago but get propper instruction. Also some guys, like the one attached have gained alot of there freakish power from these puppies. All the best J

Thanks a million Jason , for the workshop, really enjoyed it. Although, today I can barely sit down comfortably and steps are proving difficult. Do kettlebells lifters, mix in weights sessions at all during the year or do they just do bodyweight stuff and kettlebells? If they do, what lifts are you looking at? Deadlift, you mentioned but anything else? I know you said you would put some stuff together, if you could include, how to factor in Kettlebells say twice a week into a a programme already containing olympic lifts and or crossfit style workouts and BJJ sessions. Difficult to answer specifically i know, but maybe a general guideline. Thanks again.

Each person I've meet really has there own program that suits them and at the end of the day expericence is the mother of wisdom.Personaly expericence, injurys, age and personal goals all have to be taken into account ? One of my Kettlebell coaches loves to swim a lot,as in a good distance swiming. For some they found dead lifts and Leg press to be a big help in advancen there competitive goals with in the sport of Kettlebells. All I could say is that I'm a martial artist first not a strong man but have learnt a lot from books by people like George Hackenschmidt a famous ole skool wrestler.Ever heard of the Hack squat, thats his form.......as ole skool wrestlers found Olympic squat lifts, would give you hudge Gluteus maximus...not really needed for a wrestler/boxer but you can get good info from your 1 rep max.......if you want to plyometricly train. What I'ed say is find a good strength endurance coach localy but I will send you info,if you send me your e-mail.All the best J
