Was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on this_ i bought a AV cable to plug my 30gb zen into the TV so i could watch movies, but all i can get is sound. im using the right output from the zen (AV out) so not sure what the problem could be.
    Thanks.

    Just double checking...

By AV out you are referring to the jack socket on the Zen dongle yes? I don't mean to offend but this question has been asked before and the answer was that the persons had been taking the headphone out.

If all is good there, then are you using a SCART adapter or has your TV got RCA (phono) inputs?

yep using the dongle thing and putting it into the scart thing in the television and just getting the sound. do you think its the player opposed to the leads as we have tried on it on a coulple of televisions!

On the Scart adapter does it have a switch to change it between input and output? Is it set to input? Is the adapter even designed as an input adapter? Some are for output only.

Are you on the right AV channel on the TV?

Try connecting it without the adapter if any of the tv's have the RCA inputs. And again make sure you are on the right AV channel.

First, you need to tell your Zen to output the video signal when the Audio/Video Cable is connected to the dongle which attaches to the bottom of the Zen.

In your Zen, navigate to: System=> Photo/Video Settings=> Video Out. Then scroll down to and select: "Auto (Pal)"

Your Zen will now output the display to your Audio/Video Cable.

Second, you need the correct Audio/Video Cable for the Zen. A standard Camcorder or Ipod Audio/Video cable will not work as the polarity of the 3 sections of the input jack on the cable are different between a Zen, Ipod and Camcorder.

Check out the following link for more info about the Zen Video Cable: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2006/04/zen-vision-m-video-cable-other-4pole-35mm-pinouts.php

    Hope this helps you out.

Note: If you connect your Zen to an amp or stereo, the AV output is much louder than the headphone output.

I recently had the same problem but with my ipod and it was the sound not working just the picture. Turned out it was just the TV I was using. Is your RCA to Scrat adaptor old? There may just be a problem with the video on it, usually these problems end up being the simplist things, so just double check everything and try differnt TVs,RCA to Scart adaptors and Settings on the Zen.

make sure you're on the right channel on the tv -- most tvs have more than one channel for scart...
