    Hi folks.

Does anyone out there know of one of these consoles going a begging?
I see a few for sale in UK but is there any more localised?
I had one of these & made the mistake ( well hindsight is brilliant) of off loading it years ago, for the SF2 SNES package that was all the craze back then.
Sorta going back in time but theres nothing like 4 bit wizardry after a few pints....

    It's an Atari console.
    ... that is all.

The 7800 was 8bit :), actually so was the 2600.

When I started getting some of the old consoles, I paid extra and went for good examples with boxes etc on ebay. If they ever do hold value, then these examples will command higher prices.

You could try a wanted ad on adverts or in the BnS. Ebay is probably the best way to go tho.

Yeah. Got my 8BIT :) machine on ebay. Delivered today, pristine with the plastic cover still over the aluminium strip. 13 games & all original accessories. 30 euro all in. God bless online auctions...

I found mine at the sunday market in balbriggan, I think with games it cost a tenner!
The machine simply couldn't hold a candle to the Nes, sad but true, the 2600 was the last time the USA produced a truely world dominating console.

Well, they did cause the Crash, so I'm not surprised they couldn't make a console to rival the NES ;)

Ironic considering Nintendo did approach Atari's new owners at the time to manufacture & distribute the NES.

Yep and Atari gave them the cold shoulder in an embarassing and public way after they agreed to distribute the NES. Nintendo took it so badly they decided to distribute it themselves.

A few years later Nintendo did practically the same thing to Sony who decided to go it alone and bring out the Playstation themselves.

Theses big corporations, they keep putting their foot in it and it nearly always sems to spell their doom. At least Sega got hitched to Sammy and ditched hardware, seems to have worked out pretty well, unless your a Sonic fan in which case I'll send a mass card!
I can see Ninty hopping into bed with MS at some time in the future, Microsofts fortunes in Japan are so bad they need some way to turn a profit from gaming over there, I'm sure the Halo3 launch in the land of the rising sun will have passed without much notice at all.

    Don't speak too soon:

Halo 3 has the top spot in the japanese charts this week. Probably sales mostly made up of sales to native english speakers living over there.

The 360 is doing an awful lot better than the original xbox did thanks to it getting a kind of cult following in japan. Still it's not doing great by any means.
