    Internationl Music Score Library Project
the public domain music score library

The scans are of varying quality, but it seems like a very valuable resource. I just thought some people might be interested in it.

It currently has 8373 works, and 13893 scores - apparently.

P.S. I have no affiliation with the project.

I've known about this site for some time and I rgularly download. It's really very good with lots of well-known works. Invaluable for composing!

Prob. should have mentioned it myself.....

This site used to have such weird stuff - and music that was impossible to obtain anywhere else. Bah.

A related project, by no means comprehensive is http://www.mutopiaproject.org
They are transcribing out of copyright works to digital (PDF) files and are releasing the results under Creative Commons (by-sa). This is because for a lot of public domain music, the actual print of the music is still copyrightable.

The files are very 'clean'. These aren't scanned from an old book, they are generated on computer.

IMSLP is a wonderful resource. Great for finding those little obscure works!
