as the title says really. is there any websites where you can play (hold em preferably) without having to give credit card details + with no prizemoney, etc?? want some practice before i do the real thing!!

most sites let you play for fake money, i recommend pokerstars.com & fulltiltpoker.com as they're the biggest

Play money is only useful to help you understand the rules of the game. People tend to go all in frequently or make loads of stupid bets when real money is not involved.

for an absolute beginner it isn't too bad, its a good way to learn the rules, hand rankings, format of various games,
you just won't learn any tactics or strategy
