    The jerseys totally clash?

What the hell is up with that!? Surely that could have been organised better?

12-0 to NZ at the moment

Yeah, jerseys are very confusing... do NZ have a third or would it have had to be NZ home and Scotland away? If NZ wore their first it would probably be even worse (as that's the same design as Scotland/Ireland/Everyone just black instead of navy)

NZ are the guys with the ball

just flicked over during half time at Old Trafford. what a joke, the only way i can tell which players are from which team is the NZ players keep breaking through the lines, heaving Scotland off the scrum and the Scots keep missing tackles!! If you're gonna have a 2nd strip, it should have been all "silver", or at least silver shorts as well! There's way too much black on that to be properly distinguishable

i totally agree, its impossible to distinguish between the two teams, esp on TV:o

Im surprised the ref did'nt do something about it, esp at half time he could have told one side to change their shirts.

Are both sides wearing their away strip??......i always taught scotlands home strip was all navy??...or have they changed it??

Scotland are wearing their home strip. New Cantebury design (like Ireland, NZ, SA, us etc)

I must say that this 2nd team od Scotlands is causing some probs for NZ.....interesting

Good game but yeah the jerseys were terrible. I do not understand why the All blacks could not wear black?

Scotland as the 'home' team got to choose their home jersey. Much better than that bright orange top they wore when the sides met back in 1995 ;)

Nice of Frank Hadden to give his seconds a run out, He made 13 changes :)

I guess im a bit thick here... I love watching Rugby but i would not know a lot of this kind of stuff...
How does Scotland playing in their Home jersey force New Zealand to wear the silver/black one? Or is it just a case that this is the "new" Away jersey and as such they were forced to use it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Because thats New Zealands away jersey. Scotland have a very dark blue colour and it looks very similar to the same New Zealand shade of black

Not entirely sure if both teams can wear their 'home' jersey, but I guess Scotlands home colors and black where too similar.

Strangely New Zealands 'light blue & black' jersey was similar to scotlands Blue & White.

I blame all these crappy kits which look more like Power Rangers outfits than rugby tops.

Still, If I was a Scottish fan, getting a home group game against the All Blacks, and putting out the reserves wouldn't install much confidence with me :)

    Scotland's second team..

They also struggled a bit with the basics when under pressure + the lineouts, their normal weak spots.

I could name 3 teams that will give em a run for thier money....

    Aus

    SA

    NZ second squad

Good game but yeah, very confusing with the jerseys. Scotland with so much more white in their jerseys now than before against a navy background makes it look silvery and very similar to the All Black's alternative kit. They would've been better off wearing the black, would've been easier to distinguish the sides.

The jersey rights were decided by a coin toss that NZ lost. NZs usual away strip is white but changed this year. I half expected the ref to ask them to change at half time. The traditional black would have been easier to spot.

As to the game- hardly vintage by the ABs- far to many mistakes and they seem obsessed with the pick and go in the inside channels.

yes , same for me... the ref should have done something for the jerseys at the half time...
it was quiet hard to get concentrated on the actions because of the confused colour and the pleasure of watching a game was almost gone...

The decision to allow the teams to go out kitted so similar was deplorable.

It meant that the game was unwatchable and surely from a playing perspective there must have been a mistake or three introduced, as well as referring errors. It didnt matter in the general scheme of things as even a Scottish team outfitted in the same strip as NZ didnt cause them to buckle and they went about their business, but if these two teams were closer the decision(s) could have been disasterous.

Scotland could have easily played in their traditional navy blue tops/white shorts with the New Zealand team in white tops/black shorts, or alternatvely, Scotland in white shirts/navy shorts and the All-Blacks in an all black outfit.

    > As to the game- hardly vintage by the ABs- far to many mistakes

The match was ruined, and the RWC organisers should get rapped for it .....
