Bootcamp with XP Home SP1?

Hi, I've been hunting for a Windows XP disc to bootcamp with since I got my Macbook, and today I finally found one. The only snag is that the disc is Service Pack 1, not 2. My question is, will I be able to use it and then download the SP2 update during the bootcamp process or will I have to keep hunting for a disc? If there's a way around this, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Wizoom, this is NOT recommended. The problem is that ALL the apple drivers are SP2 compatible only.

It is possible to to slipstream a Windows XP SP1 install disc with SP2 and get it to work, but if you don't already know what this is I would not recommend this either.

Slipstreaming isn't difficult, I had the same problem and followed this guide, worked without a hitch. You'll need a windows computer with a CD burner to do it though. Shouldn't be too hard to find one of those, they're quite common :p

Thanks a million I'll try slipstreaming it at the weekend. Will the trial version of Nero do the trick?

i find the program nlite to be easier to slipstream than doing it through the command line.

Trial version of Nero should be grand, all you need it to do is to burn an .iso

Hmm looking at the features of nlite it seems to do that too! Thanks very much Cremo that makes life even easier :)

EDIT: Should I download this version of Service Pack 2? I'm only installing to one computer but will this be okay anyway?

Yes, use that version. As far as I know the 'one computer' version is the regular kind of Windows Update and I'm not sure it would work for slipstreaming. In any case, the Network Install version works :)

I forgot the command line can seem scary, sorry! While I'm by no means an expert the little bit of Linux experience I have got rid of the 'Oh hell' factor for me :p

Let us know how you get on :)

Thanks for all the great help guys I used nLite and everything went 100% smoothly, I can now use both Windows and Mac OSX! Only one small, weird problem: If I boot into Windows, the next time I go into OSX the time is an hour fast??

Do you have one set to use DST and one not?
