I'm heading to Playa Del Ingles on Saturday the 29th flying from Dublin and the girl I was heading away with has let me down at the last minute. Is anyone on here going cos I'm gonna be such a loner on my own now :(

I just posted this on the travel and holidays board but there's nobody there.

Has anyone had to go on hols on their own before? I'm scared!

    Grow some ball's.

Never travelled on your own before? Are you like 12 or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭moco

No I've never had to go on holiday on my own! Like it's a package holiday, not going to be much fun on my lonesome.

I have always found on a package holiday that there is loads of people you can become friends with.

There are no girls on the internet ¬_¬

Going away on your own I find a lot of fun, best way to meet the most strangest and random of people in various places. Get to go around and do whatever you want etc.

I always used to prefer travelling alone. No one to annoy you and go wherever you want to, whenever you want to. Make out a plan for yourself so you don't get bored easily. You'll have a great time and try not to stick to the Irish spots (like so many others!), I'm sure you want to get away from that for a while. Enjoy yourself!

    Woo thanks:)

Yea, I am a young lady so can't grow some balls;) I'm kinda worried about the safety aspect among other things as people are bound to cop on I'm in an apartment on my own too.

Ah well I'll just have to be brave:)

Is there no one you know who would take the other ticket, If you were male i would say go on your own, but i wouldnt be comfortable as a female on my own in a place like that, It is also a very quiet time of year in these resorts so there wouldnt be the same big young crowd there would be during the high summer months.

At this late stage it's not as easy as changing the name, it's a full cancellation and re booking. A mate of mine was going to come but is going on her own holiday the week after so can't afford to pay for another one. Grrr. The only way someone could take the place is if they had the same initial and surname as my sister (who was supposed to be coming)

Thats a sickner, tell your sister she is mean for leaving you go by yourself.

Just go. You'll be fine. As long as you've a bit of cop on about your own personal safety then there should be nothing to worry about.

you will be fine - i have travelled all over the world by myself and trust me you will have a lot more fun by yourself - dont listen to any one else telling you different. You will meet loads of people especially if it is a package holiday - you will have a great time :D

I don't feel sorrow for people who actually CHOOSE to go to Playa Del Ingles.

Well no use crying over split Milk.

Bring a book , and you will find people are quite open and forth coming.

I used to work around Ireland a lot staying in B&B's and crap. My trick was this I would sit at the bar order a pint and place a 20p coin on its head the rotate it around using the tip of my little finger.

Eventually somebody would approach me and ask me what I was doing. Viola instant ice breaker.

Other wise bring a book , preferably Rough guide to The canaries

During the day will be fine, it's just night time, going out might be a bit difficult for the first few nights anyway.

Well, you'll feel a little self-conscious, but you'll be fine and have a great laugh once you get your rhythm

    Just go.

Bring your sluttiest clothes for going out at night, and you'll have no shortage of fellas talking to you, you can then pick the best and bring him back to your apartment.

You never know, you might find that 'special someone'.

Go & have a great time.:)
When I worked offshore I used to go loads of holidays on my own - got off helicopter, walked into travel agents "where can I go today?" and I was off.

You always find some decent people to talk to/mix with.

With you being a girlie, for the evenings I recommend you have a story about being with a mate (or even...yore ma!) but they're in bed with a stomach bug, hence you're on your own tonight.......
If you meet a worthwhile guy, he'll understand if you later retract that story!

    have fun

Hiya, I'm 27 but my sister is coming with me now so don't have to go alone! I'm looking forward to it now, really wasn't keen on going on my own.
