    hi,

im having some difficulty using modulators with the ntl analog feed. i think this is because at the combination of modulator and ntl the signal strengths are unbalanced, as soon as i try to amplify the combined output the signal deteriorates drasticaly.

I would like to measure the db from the ntl feed point and that of the modulator. the mod has a variable pwr output which i could tweak or maybe i need an isolation amp for the ntl feed.

I would also like to measure the signal strength of each channel on the ntl feed. CH4 and Discovery Channel (both low vhf i think) have always been poor in the D15 area of north dublin.

I would really appreciate it if someone had one of these measurement tools that i could borrow.

    tnx

    adrian

are you using demod/remod modulator? most modulators of this kind require a signal level of 70dB at the input in order to operate correctly. having said that the output level will be the same on all modulators regardless of the input level. can you say what type of modulators you are using and the manner in which you have them connected to the feed and the manner in which you are combining at the output.
