Because of the physical nature of our sport and the potential for injuring yourself running around in fields etc I was wondering how many folks out there had First Aid training and more importantly how many folks are still keeping their skills up?

I have basic first aid training, last time I had a refresher course was with the Order of Malta. Speaking of which the Order of Malta does a lot of free first aid courses in schools as part of the adult education programmes

I'm a fully qualified snowboard instructor and have first aid training which the ski club of Ireland gets me to renew every 2 years or so. I've never dealt with anything more serious than a few broken bones or a bad laceration but I'd know what to do in a more serious emergency.

dont think your likely to get anything more than a few nettle stings or thorn scrapes in an airsoft game tbh...

although i did cut my head open once when i fell, didnt even notice it until i took my headwrap off and saw blood on it

I bring a basic first aid kit with me to HRTA usually. And in work, I get first aid training/refresher every 6 months.

I'm more concerned with broken ankles, dislocated knee's etc from careening around like madmen ;)

I mean I know its unlikely but better safe than sorry.

Mel is trained in first aid and always keeps a first aid kit on site.

Aye most likely the worst anyone would ever have to deal with would be a dislocation/fracture or a bad cut or something from someone taking a tumble as they were running or diving for cover, but with any sport that involves physical exertion there's the risk of someone overdoing it and having a heart attack or something, just look at all the GAA clubs getting defibrulators (sp?).

Plus there is the ever present danger of someone taking off their eye protection while still in the combat zone, and getting shot in the eye, although to be honest I think that's probably one of the least likely injuries provided that people show a little common sense and marshals are diligent in enforcing rules and ensuring safety.

i've done first aid training, and treated god knows how many broken bones,(probably over a hundred) cuts etc, part of running a skatepark for years. havent done a refresher course in about 2 years though

I'm not only fully trained in First Aid, I'm fully a qualified (Western) Clinical Medic , Acupuncturist and TCM Practitioner with my own private medical practice. (Very useful for fixing the injuries of your team mates ;) )

I have enhanced Ballistic first aid training for my job... A bit extreme for airsoft maybe, but at least I'd know what to do if a BB managed to penetrate your layers of clothing and skin then mushroom and tumble inside your body causing multiple internal trauma, you'd be safe with me (hey..it could happen!..lol)
