Are there overheating issues with the Wii?

I was looking on eBay earlier at the Wii wi-fi usb connector as I don't have a wireless router, and I was surprised to see usb cooling fans for the Wii. Does it have problems with overheating or is this just someone chancing their arm and trying to create a market for an unnecessary product?

There's no overheating problems with the Wii as long as you don't block the vents. Seems to be someguy chancing his arm.

apparently if you leave it on for a really really long amount of time it overheats and damages the graphics card but its really rare (p.s it only happens people who leave it on wii connect 24 all day and night which is pointless! when was the last time we got something off nintendo?)

time to turn off the ps3 :P its been on for like 2 days...normally i always leave the wii on connect 24 because i dont really know how to fully shut it down (apart from removing plug) nothing has happened yet..

To be honest even 'killyoutodeath' is being overly careful, theres no problems with leaving connect24 on the whole time, though don't block vents

Reduce your carbon footprint and switch your consoles off when you're not using them ;)

I have so many consoles hooked up that go into standby automatically that when I started turning them off at the wall about 2 months ago the next electricity bill was over a hundred euros less than usual. If you want to turn off Wii connect then just hold down the power button on the front for ages until the light on the front goes orange. The console will still be in standby though.

The power consumption for the Wii is about a tenth that of the PS3 and 360 so in order to reduce your carbon footprint, get rid of everything but your Wii and DS ;)

The light at the front being orange beans that Connect24 is still on... The power light should be red when it's fully asleep and using minimal power. You can turn off Connect24 in the Wii system preferences.
