Eoin Reddan, the only bright spark last night!

I know its been said in other threads here but I thought I might open a new thread where it would be the main topic for discussion. I'm no rugby expert - I watch the six nations and some of the heineken cup if the mood takes me so feel free to slate my opinion if you wish. :p

I think Eoin Reddan was one of the (if not the only) bright spark in the Irish team last night. He was trying clever little things all night which was good to see. He ran from the scrum instead of immediately laying it off, he played that sly little pass off the french player and he always appeared to be shouting and egging the irish boys on to do better. I think in the one game last night he did enough to relegate Stringer to the bench for an extended stay. Do people agree with me or am I getting carried away because the rest of the Ireland team played so **** that they made him look better than he is?

Completely agree with you.. I thought he marshalled the forwards very well. He also showed good pyhsical presence and wasn't affraid to stand up against the opposition.

I also thought the main thing Redden broght to the feild was a bit of initiative, unpredictability and spark. I really hope the can retain the no.9 shirt. He brings a lot more to the table than Strings.

He played well but I think people are giving him a bit too much credit. I thought he could have used the ball a lot quicker instead of giving the French defence time to regroup. That said, he played better than Stringer and Boss have in recent matches.

I'd certainly start him against Argentina.

However, I think I'd have Stringer on the bench. Leaving him completely out of the 22 was almost as odd as Georgan Murphy's disappearance.

By the way, if anyone has information as to his whereabouts, please phone 1800-sack-eddie.
