    Hi Lads, thinking of selling my latop, if i run dban will it erase everything on my hard drive ? if so great but i dont want to erase windows xp, as i dont have the disc will xp still be there ?

    No such thing.
    Are you sure you don't have the re-install CD? What brand laptop is it?
    The disk may be called something else like recovery cd or maybe the laptop has hidden restore partition.

    eraser will securely delete any personal files you want to get rid of and will also wipe any free hard disk space that may contain recoverable files
