Anyone here got a completely unlocked iPhone.

When I get mine I have to unlock it.

    I've heard of iUnlock.

Then I take it you have to enable Youtube aswell using a different method.

    1. Jailbreak etc ---> Unlock Functions
    2. Unlock SIM
    3. Configure Youtube.

    Is this right?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That's pretty much it. Mine didn't arrive today, so I'll be getting it on Monday. Will be able to tell you more then.
Jailbreaking basically enables your computer to write files to the iPhone. You then roll out the GUI unlocker.
It's beta, but it appears to work ok.
Some people are having trouble getting youtube to work though.

Make sure you upgrade the firmware to 1.02 before you do anything though!

There are plenty of sites out there.
    This being the best:
    http://www.freeiphoneunlock.com/unlock/

I will be in a more educated position on Monday.

yeah from what i've read as well, you use iNdependance http://code.google.com/p/independence/ to jailbreak and then activate the phone.

this program can also transfer ringtones/wallpapers/icons etc to the phone.

then you use the iUnlock http://www.freeiphoneunlock.com/unlock/ to unlock the sim blocker.

then you get the proper youtube plist files http://modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5037, transfer them to the iphone

then you fill in your networks EDGE settings

and then you have a 100% (except for visual voicemail!!) working iPhone on any network!!

i still need an iPhone :(

first that we know of.......absolutely!! Had it in my hands this day last week(friday) and fully sim-unlocked tuesday evening! http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=53999521&postcount=5

...Activate using iNdependence and your new sim card......its sweet and easy, AND it fixes YouTube in one foul swoop. You have to let itunes recognise the phone, then click cancel when it prompts you to activate. Then quit iTunes and kill ituneshelper in the Activity Monitor, all before you activate!

    - You'll need to download the firmware for activation, iNdependence asks for it. Unzip the file, it'll yield a folder....keep the folder somwhere you'll remember - its the folder you specify when asked for it. If it doesn't automatically unzip, add a .zip to the end of it! http://content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-3823.20070821.vormd/iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw

Once Activated i would restore the phone in iTunes to bring it up to firmware 1.0.2 - the latest.

Then you'll have to repeat the activation to proceed to the sim-unlock.

..I sim-unlocked using the paid iphonesimfree method. Bought my licenses from freeit4less.com - I did this because i was impatient and wanted the thing to work. Now a few days after the event, i don't regret paying for the license. It WORKED first time out of the box. There was no drama!!

To get the app onto the phone i used iNdependence too. This is how I did it.
    - After Activating the phone iNdependence returns the phone to jail so you'll have to jailbreak it (click 1 button)
    - After jailbreaking install SSH (click 1 button)
    - In Settings/Wifi (in the iPhone) click on your wifi network and get the IP address of the phone
    - Quit iNdependence and restart it
    - In iNdependence click the last tab and go to add the application, choose your application and click open.
It'll ask for the IP address of the phone and password (dottie)
Once done you'll have a nice new icon on the springboard!!

-Click the icon, go through the disclaimers and the click the apple picture in the middle of the screen to get going. The unlock takes a few minutes. (make sure you have wifi access)

(if you decide to go using the free unlock, the process is the same, only you're uploading the free unlock app)

    Done!!!

    - I removed SSH when done, again using iNdependence.

*edit - it looks like firmware 1.1.1 may be coming soon - wifi itunes store and international support (number recognition maybe....yay!) This may well change the game completely when it lands - as from the pic it looks like the modem is getting a big update. The free unlock works by patching the modem - so watch this space.

    O2 have EDGE.....its GPRS only faster....not 3G

Yeah man, data works a treat for me on Voda....ill try find O2's settings
    .
    .
    .
    .

    APN: open.internet
    username: gprs
    p/w: gprs

looks like O2 use specific DNS servers....may require hacking....but try the above, maybe it'll auto pick up. Voda don't require specified DNS servers so i'm fine....oh and ring them to make sure you're account is data enabled.

    hang on....you're O2 uk....

By the way, babypink, I was stressing the word "correct" due to my own stupidity, not any info you'd given. Just so our wires aren't crossed!
