My father found a very old photo of some of his family. The quality of it is not great. I remember seeing a thread here quite a while ago where some posters did an amazing job with some old pics.
I would love to be able to work on the picture myself but unfortunately dont know much about photoshop. Would anyone mind trying to do a quick job on it as my Father would be delighted with it.

    Thanks.

kc66, a higher res version would be ideal.

The pic is about the size of a business card! I have no scanning software on my PC (apart from Windows software which will scan at a max 600dpi)
and cant find the CD that came with the scanner. Any suggestions of some free software to scan it better.

As sure if its that small that res is pretty good.
    Here is my attempt.
I kept it totally black and white, I can add a slight sepia tone if you like?
I might have missed a few scratches here and there.
I tried to add in as much detail around the faces by burning in the shadows a bit. Hope I didn't over do it!

5uspect, that is great thanks. Yeah I think a sepia tone might improve it a bit because it is a bit dark compared to the original.

See my attempts below. I also left one in character in case you wanted it that way.

I am very impressed with these results. If I were to attempt the same it would take me a painstakingly long time. Do you have any tips on how to achieve these results without it taking all day?

Its really about being quick with the clone brush. I have a graphics tablet but I use both it and my mouse so I doubt that gives any real advantage other than precision in tight spots. Looking at the post timings I'd say it took me just under an hour to do it.

    Practice , practice, practice!

EDIT:And always work on a duplicate layer so you don't have to worry too much about messing up. Also go into your preferences (Ctrl-k) and up the number of undos to 50 (if you have memory to spare)
