Disable auto-sync in iTunes before connecting your ipod to the new machine. Might be an idea to download something like iPodDisk (no link handy but just google), this will let you transfer all the music from your ipod over to itunes on the new machine, effectively turns the ipod into an external drive that you can copy from, or import directly into itunes.

Here is the link for iPodDisk http://code.google.com/p/ipoddisk/downloads/list

This link is about a shuffle but will give you answers anyway... http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-36452.html

Depending on the version of itunes you have you might not be able to turn off syncing until the ipod is connected, and then you just choose manual syncing... that link explains all that anyway.

    Hope that sorts it.
