PC on its side

I have 2 HP PCs, mini towers, I guess. Is there any problem with putting them on their side and putting the monitor on top. Both have vents on both sides, so there shouldn't be an issue there. Is there anything else I should beware of?

As long as the sides are strong enough for the weight of the monitor and are getting ample ventilation then I can't see how there could be an issue with it.

I'm thinking the likes of the cd-drive, say, where the doesn't sit properly in the drive when it's on its side.

Its fine, once a cd goes in it gets locked in anyway. Sure some PC;s even come with the cdrom etc sideways :D

I think most CDROM drives have a little thing you can slide in to act as a catch for the CD so that it doesnt fall back out of the drive straight away.

Yes, that will work! BUT do not put it at a weird angle - HDD.
    the rest is all cool.

As long as you keep both vents clear, there shouldn't be an issue. Air is drawn from one side and expelled out the other.

Well that's a problem. There's a vent at what would be the top and one at what would be the bottom. So that little air flow system is not going to happen.
