    hey guys
    hope yer all well
i want to get voip t home, and be able to use it like a regular landline telephone, from a convenience point of view, i.e. not have to turn on my computer, put on the headset etc etc
i heard that this is possible

im wondering what the raw materials are to make this this possible!

    hey
    thanks for the link
    i found ths product here:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-SPA3102-Voice-Gateway-Router/dp/B000GB740W/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/202-3381656-9529466?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1190543965&sr=8-1

im wondering how i would connect this device.
is it just a case of connecting this device into one of the lan ports on my eircom router and then having my cordless phone dock station connected to the link sys device, in th elink above?

    thanks

Ed, how about you take a look at the VoIP FAQ sticky and see if that answers your questions.

Yep that's pretty much the hardware connections for an ATA ( analogue telephone adapter )...

You'll then need to find the IP address of your new ATA on your network ( you can find this out from your DSL modem, you'll need to log into your dsl modem settings )....

Once you find the IP address of your ATA you enter it into your browser address line, which allows you to access the settings in the ATA and setup your VOIP provider ( eg blueface )...
