    Hi there...

Not certain if this is the right forum, but I reckon the band I'm trying to find are 'alternative & indie'!

Tom Dunne on Pet Sounds used to play this song a few years ago, and I can't remember the name of it, or the band. All I can tell you was that the there was no singing, just spoken word. The lyrics tell a story about a couple who swap letters to each other and eventually meet up. At the end of the song they hold hands and then let go when they walk either side of a lamppost. There's the sound of a type-writer in the background of the song. And as far as I can remember, it's actually the story of how two of the band members met, and I think, but I'm not certain, that they may be Scottish?

Any ideas, it's wrecking my head! Thanks...

    J.

    Hi there...

Thanks for that, do you mean he'll reply via email, or give the answer over the air? Cos I can't guarantee I'll hear it on the show!

Sounds very Belle and Sebastien-esque but I could well be wrong.

Indeed you are wrong, Earthhorse. And in a way, you're also right. ;)

OP, it's Looper (led by Stuart David, formerly of Belle and Sebastian). And the tune is called Impossible Things #2.
There's a Looper entry on Wikipedia.

Yeah, I had a funny feeling with all the side projects and solo stuff that went on around B & S that it mightn't be them; it just sounded like their kinda thing.

    Ladies and Gents...

Thanks so much, you have literally made my day. I've loved this song since the day I heard it and it's been so long that I've wanted to find it again. I've just downloaded it on iTunes... :) Thanks all...
