Optiarc 5540A Drive + Dell XPS + Vista = DISASTER

Hi, having serious problem with my XPS which i installed vista on, my optical drive which is an optiarc 5540a is not showing up anymore and in the device manager there is an exclamation mark over the icon. I've tried reinstalling drivers but its not working i've searched google etc and found things of limited help to me…
