    Personally, I think you'd learn more from going out taking pictures with your camera, and reading forums/websites for advice.

    When you've learnt all you can from that, Understanding Exposure is highly reccomended from a lot of posters here, though I've not read it myself.

    Ways of Seeing is a book that's highly reccommended for getting an eye for photographs etc.

    Don't be put off by the unfortunate title of "Understanding Exposure". It's actually very readable, in fact it's mostly picture examples with accompanying text explaining the topic.
    I'm reading it at the moment and it really helps you understand your pictures better. Three thumbs up from me anyway.;)

    It can get a bit deep at times, but isn't written in a whole other language like a lot of contemporary 'understanding the photograph' books.
