Crazy car driver

Every morning I drive to work, if I'm any way near the white dividing line when this particular driver is coming, he drives at me, flashing his lights and swearing. I could be stopped in traffic, turning right, whatever. This idiot drives at me. It's getting to the point that I'm going to follow him and vent on him.

I drive along the grand canal and I even have him timed to where I could possibility meet up with this guy. One morning after this happened I was stopped at lights and asked a fellow bike driver about this and he said "oh him...he does it to all bikes"

He drives a white Ford Fiesta if anyone has had experience with him. Should I report him for dangerous driving cause I reckon one of these mornings he's going to hit me?

Carry a nice heavy disc lock tomorrow morning and put it straight through the windscreen if it happens again :p

I'd say ring the Gardaí/Traffic Watch and ask your biker friends to back you up.

I ride along the Canal every weekday morning anytime between 7:30 - 9:30, is there a particular time you meet him/particular section?

Hmm... Crossroads at ranelagh around 7.45-7.50am. Continues up the road till Clogher Road and turns up Clogher road to get to the Long mile road. It's about a 30min window. So he'd be on the canal, depending on traffic, from 7.50am to about 8.10 or so. I also drive down the Clogher road so I meet him there if I'm running late. I'm not following him, honest.

Casually drop a flaming petrol bomb onto his passenger seat. Oops, silly me, you are a bit on fire...

TBH after my recent occurrence of trying to report something to the gards. I would not bother. I was met with a gard who blamed me for this car under taking me. Then giving me a caution for driving while recording/ not paying attention to the road... The camera looks where the helmet is pointed not my eyes. And its a blank recording I dont look at anything to see what I am getting.

If you have a problem with him. Stop and block him from moving. Then get off your bike and walk up and ask him what his problem is. You'll get a better response than going to the gards.

In all fairness Sutty, you're driving didn't seem the best there. No reason for her to undertake you. But why do you drive so close to the center of the road? you should be in the middle of your lane.

Also your driving after she undertook you would be considered dangerous. you would have been better to just follow her after she undertook you and then gone to the police.

I guess you don't have to be too intelligent to be a guard.

Btw was that the customary exchange of greetings between bikers and cagers at between 28 seconds and 30 seconds on the clip? :D

I love the fact that even though the car driver was in the wrong there, they stick their fingers up as if you were. That and the overtaking lane was empty.

I have to go to the garda station to get a form signed tomorrow so I'll mention it to them and see what they say. If nothing happens we'll see. There's a lot of lights along the canal that he'll have to stop at.

I was in the Off set position as I was looking back to see if Oldyellar made it around the M50 roundabout ok. Where I seen this woman come from the RH lane to over take her (Oldyellar was in the same lane as me). Then come 200-300 meters to under take me in a few seconds. Funny thing was. She was turning to the Left at the roundabout just at the end of the vid. So she went into non moving traffic.

Perhaps not the best advice but I once met a courier while getting lunch. We got talking about such drivers in dublin city centre. He bought a pair boots with a protective toe cap on it which he used to kick the centre of car doors if they deserved it. I saw the damage done by a courier with such a strike and it was quite obvious. He also said he kicks the wing mirrors in as he was high enough on his model bike. Not a good idea but it gave me a chuckle.

As for the above video, sure it was bad driving on her part but in fairness I would never pull in front of a car to slow it down. You never know the temperament of that driver and she could have just driven through you. If i was to let loose at a driver, it would always be at the stopped position. The good old shake of the head is patronising enough for me

arrrghh, just lookin at that cheeky b!tch has made me angry. I fcukin hate wagons (and w@nkers) like that who think that bikes are second class road users. They probably think we can't afford to buy a nice car and sit in the traffic with them.

    Frustration, that's what it is.

No matter what you drive, she /they/'d do the same even if you are in the car. Have seen a lot of such behavior on the roads. :(

DBK - just get the reg number of the white van and ring traffic watch and follow it up.

Sutty - whatever she was at. . . . if you keep up those antics on a bike, you're gonna become an unfortunate statistic.

Booted a few cars myself. Make sure you have an escape route;)

Since posting this on Boards, I haven't seen the car. I've left at different times all week and was bound to run into him but nope, nothing. I remember the reg though and have reported it to the local garda station. They said they'd keep an eye out. If nothing else, if the guy does run into me it's on record and he can't really say it was an accident.

In the video it was bad road positioning on the bike's behalf but that's no excuse for her to act like a ****e driver.

In relation to the car you used to see driving at you, DON'T kick it of break the wing mirror off unless you get a new job and drive a new route because he will crash into you next time!

If you don't mind me asking, what do you use to record your trips?
