Sky callback question

    Hi,

When i do a callback on one of the sky box's in the house, it seams like its successful (i.e It goes back to the menu with no errors). But when you go back into the prefix settings page the 142 prefix is gone!? Yet on the other box's the number is retained.

Any ideas why this would be happening?

Does the message "installation complete" appear ?

No...this is not a new installation though. I just go to the telephone settings in that hidden menu?

Edit: If i go through the new installation it completes with no errors. Yet the prefix is still not being stored in the telephone settings?!!

    Any ideas?

And that's it? That does not initiate a callback. You need to complete a new installation.

It does start a callback though, if you put in the prefix and save the settings.

This must be a new feature as I've never seen it. AFAIK unless you see "installation complete" a callback has not taken place

I did the new installation now.

It completed with no errors, does this mean its fine now? Despite the fact that the prefix is not stored?

If all your channels can be seen and viewed then yes. May I ask, what would you need a 142 dialing prefix? You want the callback number to be dialed as 1421800xxxxxx ?

Right, I see. Unless you have requested to Eircom that caller ID is permanently barred from your line, it is not necessary.

What is not necessary? Every other box in the house has this 142 prefix in "telephone settings" stored, but this one will not. Also Sky have said it is just this box causing issues with callbacks....as in they cant call it!

Its quite a big pain in the ass!! :p

The box seams to be faulty, as I tried a different one in the same place and it stores the number!! The original box is about 2 years old

Sky dont call the box its the other way around. It does sound like a faulty box, try taking the viewing card out and do a forced download
