Any of you Merc heads able to tell me if I have have the right WD for a W107?
Bought this OE version second-hand on eBay and it seems an odd fit.
The clasp seems to stretch too far down to catch the underside of the hood cover.

    Pic one

    Pic two

Not sure what I'm supposed to do with this plastic thing in the second pic that came in the box.

A chap on a MB forum suggested it may be for a W113.

    Any thoughts... cheers!

I cant give you much help, except to say that I have never seen one like that before !

It seems to be the right shape and size but it is not an OE one !

I dont think it is for a W113 either since the rear deck cover is a very similar shape to the W107 so that catch wouldn't fit either !!

    Hmmm, thanks MM.

I did find some pics online from a guy showing the installation of an OE version and it looks identical (he even posted a pic of the MB box).

This is his, and this is mine.
    Or this and this...

At least I've all winter to figure it out! ;)

It certainly looks the same, except you cant see the crucial part !

I do know that B6 781 1046 is the correct Part Number for a Mercedes OEM one, and that they do clip onto the deck lid, allowing you to open the deck lid without disturbing it !

A 107 owner has just told me he remembers something about deflectors only fitting '73 - '89 models. And a pic here of an owners car seems to show a deeper 'deck lid' than on mine. This could be the problem here (the crucial part!).

I did not know that! Not that it will matter unless I find some sort of shim to get it fitting. Doh.

    ..............interesting !

I think you've found your problem right there ! I bet not many people know that there is a difference !

Could the black piece be some kind of adapter ??

Either way I'm sure you could make something up !!
