Fuji S7000 - Camera Problems

This is an old camera of mine that i gave to a friend, shes had it for a year and now shes having problems with it.

Upon starting, the lens comes out and the lcd displays the start up screen. It then goes black with no view. If you look through the view finder, theres no image either.

Ive tried a different memory card with no luck.

Might it be the shutter jammed ? or a software clitch ? Short of sending it for repair i cant think of anything else to check.

    Can anyone help?

Can it be reset to the factory default settings? Sometimes that can clear problems up.

thanks. just tried that and no help.

just doesn't do anything when you have it on photo mode. i know its not batteries as the screen works for the settings etc.

seems to be that some of the fuji cameras (s7000, s5600) are (unofficially) prone to ccd failure.

guess its a phone call to fuji services in dublin 11.

they'll probably charge a fortune so it'l probably be for the bin
