    Hi There,

Im looking for somewhere where I can use my own balls to work out my club yardages.

Does anyone know where I could try??

    Thanks in advance,

A field somewhere? The practice ground at a golf club?

Find a football pitch somewhere. If you can find a set of pitches in the same field then all the better. A standard full size football pitch is about 100 yards wide and 130 yards or so long. If you can find two pitches end to end, you should have enough room to hit all the clubs in your bag. Hit a dozen or two balls and then pace out the distance to the average length of your shots and there's your yardage.

Just make sure that you play from a point outside the playing area of the pitch so that you don't leave loads of divots and there isn't a sudden epidemic of twisted ankles in Ballygobackwards FC.

Another possibility is a beach... Inchydoney in cork or tramore in waterford when the tide is out have lovely hard flat sand and lots of space, hitting off sand will do your ball striking no harm. Won't find too many bikini clad distractions there at this time of year either... might be some use if you live near a coastline.
Lot's of clubs have a practice facility just like you are looking for too... Ask around.

On a golf course hit irons from the 150,100 yards and work from there.
A driving range would be no good because your not hitting real balls so they will fly less distance.
On the course hit 5 balls from 150 yards and then step back 20 yards and work it out from there.

Does anyone know a club in south Dublin where I could use their practise facilities for this purpose.
