    HI,

I was wondering if anybody can help.

My friend bought a TV LINK remote control signal sender (approved by Sky themselves).
    http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:4wgfqauNiKDcjM:http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/images/global-tvlink-silver.jpg

Basically they send the signal from the remote control to the Sky box so you can watch Sky and change channels from a different room.

He has tried the infa red signal senders but had no luck so he decided to physically connect the TV in his bedroom upstairs to the Sjky box in his living room downstairs using the TV LINK system. Basically the problem he is having is the TV LINK system is not picking up the remote control signal in his bedroom.

He has hooked it up exactly as per the instructions and has connected the TV LINK system to the RF out on his Sky box as per instructions.

As I've said, this is for a friend of mine in work so I'll have to pass all questions and suggestions onto him when I see him.

    Thanks guys,
    J.

    assuming the following:

the RF power on RF out 2 is switched and that the eye worked when connected directly to the Digi box.

The eye has a small light on the part that connects to the coaxial cable, if the light is not on in the bedroom, it can only mean that voltage is not getting to the eye. There are only a few things that cause this.
1: the TV outlet plate in the bedroom is "isolated" and does not allow voltage from the digi box to pass through it.
2: there is not a direct cable link between the digi box and the bedroom TV outlet, i.e there is a splitter or other device that is blocking the voltage
3: the cable run is excessively long (light may be on but intermittent or not working)
4: the eye is connected the wrong way around in the bedroom
5: the RF power to RF2 is not switched on
6: bad connections on the cable or damaged coax cable preventing the voltage from the Digi box reaching the eye

    solutions
Make sure the RF power for RF 2 in the Digi box is switched on
check to make sure the male end of the Eye connector is in the aerial in socket of the TV
make sure there is a direct connection between digi box and bedroom TV (no splitters/amplifiers/bad connections
relpace or remove the TV outlet plate in the bedroom (if isolated)
    check connections.

Have you turned power on for the connector in the sky box? Not sure where this is as it's been a long time since I poked around a sky box. This is needed to get the IR Receiver working.

Have you read the instructions that came with the magic eye? This should be all detailed in there.

You'd be amazed at how many people don't RTFM and just plug t in and hope for the best.

*EDIT * DOH!!!! Beaten to it.
