NTL Digital TV, Broadband and Phone

Does anyone use NTL for their Digital TV, Broadband and Phone?

    If you do, any problems?

They currently have an offer for their Digital Select, 1MB broadband and Phone for €50. Similar to what I have but with different companies thus €25 more per month so thinking of changing.

Want to see if there are any issues, as their TV decoder needed to be rebooted every few days up until about a month ago after an upgrade.

    thanks.

I would recommend it, It works out as a great deal. In an upgraded area you should be plain sailing. The digibox's had a problem for a while there but it was a headend issue more so than the boxes.

I am also interested if anyone else has experience with the digital phone. Due to my past experiences with NTL, I am EXTREMELY sceptical of any services ofered by them. However, I'd love to save money and I'm not particularly fond of Eircom either.

If anyone is using this service, can you comment on the line quality, ease of use, call charges, reliability, etc? Is anyone using NTL broadband? Would you recommend it?

    Thanks!

In fairness I've found NTL's customer service staff to be refreshingly helpful of late, contrary to my previous experiences with NTL.

I despise their policy of making subscription to their television service compulsory in order to use their broadband. In the UK, this is not the case. Virgin Media customers pay just £18 a month for a 2mb broadband service. The same from NTL in Ireland costs almost €50.

Are you saying that it is permissible to pay for broadband and phone services only, and not for television? If so, have you gone ahead with this, and have you checked your bill?

im not sure. i was only ringing them on to see why my phone was not yet connected even though they installed a new modem for it 6 or 7 weeks ago. the nice lady on the phone only said if i was NOT availing of the tv service the line rental for the phone service would increase from €4 to €10.

Right I see, that makes sense. As far as I remember without checking their site, if you already pay for TV and broadband, you pay a discounted €4 per month "rental" for their VoIP service rather than the standard €10 a month if you have only one / neither of the other services.

I thought for a moment there that they were allowing you to have broadband and phone (no TV).. but alas.. :(
