Annoying Omaha Hand

2/4 Effective stacks of like 650 or something

Villain is Roundtower. Playing something like 32/11/0.88 over maybe 100 hands.

I havnt seen him showdown very many hands that he's cold called in position and he's folded to the majority of my cbets so far whenever we've been in pots together. I'd imagine his range for cold calling in position would be 4 connectors, hands like 99TJ, 4 broadways or 3 decent cards with a dangler double suited (this is pure guess work).

The flop in the hand is so dry, that I can only put him on QQ/88 or a float. Hence checking the turn for pot control. I think my hand is fairly obviously AA/KK. Anyone call the river?

Oh fwiw I'm playing like 39/23/2.2 and have cbet most flops.

I honestly can't see whats annoying about it, I would have folded the turn.

Unless you are the villan and can't see how he would call with AA.

lol no im not the villain. i just cant put him on a hand that has me beaten. Unless it's like QJT8 with a suit or something.

I think he should have at least 2 pair a lot here, although your line by the river is pretty damn weak. 79TJ is a hand he may have taken a turn card with, and it was a fairly good turn card.

You said yourself you have an obvious AAxx, KKxx.

The problem with this is Roundtower could have easily been floating the flop, but got some kind of a draw on the turn and got there on the river. Alternatively if he was floating, he could have backed into some ****ty two pair (although I suppose he would check behind then).

I still think I would fold the turn and take the decision away. you had very little invested, with no draws to come.

Would this decision have been easier if the villan wasn't Roundtower (serious question, just wondering if it came into it).

You have 1 pair and someone is showing a lot of strength. I think unless you have a very specifc read that they are weak or bluffing, you'll lose a lot of money calling bets like that on turn and river with just one pair.

Why do you say that your hand is obviously KK/AA? Are those the only hands you raise with?

lol no. id need to get alot of AA/KK to be raising 23% of hands. I folded the river, but I didnt like c/c turn and c/f river. The bet size on the river just seemed like a value bet. Anyway he had air fwiw.

u raise preflop .then bet the flop. on turn u turn over the betting to him by checking if u bet out would u not get a better look of wat kind of hd he had ? if he reraise u would u call the turn then or fold ? some players cant lay the AA hd down in omaha thats why they lose there money .u only had one pair anyway on river so unless i had a great read on player i fold

If you hadnt made the donkey raise in ep with aces then you wouldnt have got yourself in this situation. I really cant stress the importance of position enough in omaha. As you said you have given your hand away and so a good omaha player will call you in position with any crap. Its very easy for him to outplay you on the turn/river as he knows the cards ur holding. Next time you get aces in omaha in ep just flat call and never reraise with them in this position unless you can get 2/3 of your stack in p/f

I think you should bet the turn.

Those were RT's stats. Ian was playing 39/23, so it makes it an even sillier comment.

I dont like check calling the turn, i think its very weak and will lead to a tougher decision on the river if you check again. Would you consider check raising the flop, i think this would have a higher sucess rate for winning this hand. As played i would either check/fold or raise the turn, probably fold.

Edit: amendment as recommended by our auspicious dilitante mod

Aggression is a key factor of omaha, and if you give the other guy the lead, you are showing weakness, you should continue to control the betting if you want a showdown. But i can't see whats annoying about it.

given the action I fold the river, but I much prefer lead-folding the turn.
Even though you think he might be floating you have very little extra information after the turn action. He has to have been on an out and out bluff for your hand to be good on the river, and I doubt he's on such a bluff here, particularly if the stats are anything to go by (though I doubt that they are).

When a weak-passive fish comes out betting hard, you can fold your hand.

lol reg. yeah i think bet folding the turn is obviously a way better line

Really Lloyd?. Even Ian himself admits that his hand is pretty transparent, if not on the flop then certainly on the turn.

To even consider that my opening range UTG is limited to AAxx/KKxx demonstrates your inability to understand VPIP and PFR figures. I could easily open 3456 UTG, cbet that flop and then check fold the turn. Its the fact I played the turn so weakly that my range narrowed so much as it was likely to be AAxx/KKxx/AQxx or maybe even 9TJx.

PS: your first post - i lolled (and thats being nice)
