    Hello,

I have €5000 right now and will be free in 5 weeks time to do as i like till next september when i start college, really looking for some advice on what to do and where to go.

I heard asia is a cheap place to go so might head there, where in asia should i go and who shoul i book everything with, to qoute a friend i would be like a pimp if i had €5000 in thailand, i dunno how true that is though.

    thanks,
    Nicky

OP, not sure how long you could survive on 4k (1k for flight) in Asia but it is very cheap. Call into Trail Finders or if you aren't in Dublin phone them and talk to them. They have loads of info so they will be able to help you.

If you were reasonably careful, you could get by in Asia for about 500-600 a month - thats eating out, staying in nice guesthouses, doing the odd tour.....certain countries are cheaper than others however. I don't believe places like Thailand are as cheap as they used to be, but the more remote non-touristy areas would be stupid-cheap. China is great too - you could go over and teach english for a bit perhaps?

I don't know what your interests are, but will suggest the following anyhow:

If you want to travel to have fun then your well-inhabited, social-leisure-scene is all too easy to come by.

That's conventional thinking, with orthodox returns.

However, if you want your trip(s) to be rewarding, educational, and fun, then regionalise this planet you live on - i.e. Geographically, and you will find that you can fill your eleven months with a lifetime's worth of memories.

E.G. - Middle East, begin in Egypt then cross the Sinai to Jordan, north to Syria, then Turkey from the east through to Istanbul. Take in a scuba diving course on the way.

    One month gone, at leisure.

You can do the same with the next region - your choice - and continue until your 5K is nearing it's end. Up to you whether this is five months or ten.

The moral of the story is that your reasoning and approach to travel can be much more limiting than the 5K.

Be unorthodox, and you will want to do other regions in similar fashion in the future.

    Enjoy!!
