Well i was thinking today, for once, and i had an idea. A full alien VS Predator Predator Loadout.

CAn get the clothing and then this. But does anyone know if this will fit the clone Thompson? The full thing bought as one is $999.00 so its not an option as I'm not lemming!

Anyway, what i great idea heh?

Aliens versus Predator? What heresy is this?! It's either Aliens or Predator. There'll be no mention of THAT film on this forum ;)

A marine loadout from Aliens would look interesting. A Predator costume would look a little daft :p

Oh by the way, why does that Predator costume include a bra?!

Yes. And why is there a classroom in the background?

More than likely a comics convention. I see a Klingon in the background too...at least I think it is.

The CYMA Thompson is an exact clone of the TM so I wouldn't imagine you'd have any problems fitting it to the kit. Word of warning though, the Pulse Rifle while cool looking is supposed to be very uncomfortable to hold and fire.

Oisin, while I agree with you about the AvP film, load of toss, some of the origional AvP comics were quite good.

    Yep, its BI-MON-SCI-FI-CON.

The people in the background are probably playing with their Pokemon.

As much as I'd like an M41A pulse rifle (and I believe Fallschrimjager has one, the git), I'd much rather an M56 smart gun :D

    Much pwnge! :D

Alas I just don't have $15,000-odd (hey, don't look at me like that .... honestly ... look, I know I'm not exactly sane but gimme some credit!!) for the camera-mount chest-rig used

Is the predator wearing a bra? :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 306 ✭✭davvowl

at the end of predator 2, when he kills the pred in their ship, theres alot of preds gathering around him and i think some of those are females (maybe im wrong)

and this looks like a cosplay convention of some sort since theres another costumed guy right behind on the left, and this costume has like, nothing to do with aliens or preds ;)

i have a dream too and its slowly becoming true : a ghost recon 4 / transformers outfit
you know, multicam stuff with the very sexy combat apparel and the wonderful (and impossibly rare) armor chassis from crye precision

well i just got my hands on... some interesting stuff. :)

Guess we shouldn't mention that they are making AvP 2 then? Or mention that this one won't be PG rated.

yes gentlemen, i have the kit, holidays coming up...might finally rape the poor old thompson....and git er done

so you are now entering a realm where i am am so fecken sad, i could bore the tits off everyone about the USCM...

so just to annoy ye all here is what i have

correct boots (not difficult they are vietnam issue tropical boots)
correct uniform (now that is way tricky as its a camo style not made any more, links at end)
patches (i have these, got them made so if anyone needs some i have them and no this isnt a socialist paradise, so they aint free)
full body armour (yes i have it, not painted correctly, how fecken sad is that) including leg pieces..
    1:1 model of flamer unit
t-shirt (peace thru superior firepower) rare enough (might wear that the next time at hrta!)
fake grenades (can cycle thru a shotty apparently)
    pulse rifle kit
small thompson magazine (quite hard to get now as it happens)
1:1 scale welding unit (obviously fake)
'that headset' -- these are like friggen golddust quite frankly as it the same headset used by the star wars types
    head cam (fake obviously)
    correct pistol pouch
1:1 fake watch and locator (dont ask its too complicated to explain here)
1:1 motion tracker -- master replicas do a good one or build your own
    1:1 working shoulder lamp

still need the correct knife (gerber mark II) which goes on ebay for about 300 dollars now and a japanese style knot, the correct cigarette lighter (a savanna, with tool and leather pouch like ebay item 330164137726 (but that has no pouch))
    still need the airsoft vp70
that hicks shotgun ('i keep this for close encounters') and shoulder bag
still need the webbing for grenades (you have to make this)

you need a vietnam era US helmet to make mods to adding the radio piece, camera and infra red unit

so lemming....the m56 smart gun you will need

a green vietnam era flak vest, an extremly expensive camera mount for the arm to support the m56 and the headset, thats very very tricky as you really have to make it by hand...(last time i looked anyways)

the m56 is an mg42 with a cylinder mag, with of all things a motorcycle grip for the shoulder replacement. you can get these mods on the web, but they aint cheap...and its friggen huge and you will have to butcher an airsoft mg42 worth about 2 grand....

they built a 'hero' model m41a for the movie out of a thompson and a spas12 shotty handle and 870 shotgun (from memory), you see vasquez firing it (watch for the shells eject- strange for a m41a caseless weapon!!! and hudson fires it in the movie. sadly this was dismantled and lost forever at the end of the movie (big big arguements on this by the way in the aliens world) but the specs exist and people have rebuilt working props of it with the real steel. the problem with the m41a airsoft ones is getting an airsoft shotgun to work for the nade launcher. you would not believe what people have done to get this working because of the tight tolerances (the plastic is too thick), and nearly all have failed (again this is the last time i looked).

i actually bought all of this for an eventual home movie theatre. i also have a model of the blade runner pistol (a rare one as it happens), a logans run blaster, space 1999 blaster, but to get a m56 is a goal i would have...the problem is if you are to do it right you would need to be thinking about 15grand, and no, thats not making that figure up (unless you went for super cheap copies to bring it around 5 grand). people have done this by the way, so it shows the committment or crazyiness, depending on your viewpoint i suppose.

    some sites to use

http://www.hyperdynelabs.com/products_elec_motionTracker.php -- i bought off these, they do loads of aliens, blade runner pistol , PREDATOR stuff..all the electronics. i also have a resin m41a to build and their sound kits and counter and shotgun sound kit. this company are used for a lot of the predator electronics in those kits and the proton packs for ghostbuster followers...

www.menatarms.us...currently closed for an upgrade, you can get the uniforms there..incidently i am fairly sure this is the same guy on a lot of the airsoft boards as he is a big airsofter. a very friendly guy as it happens

another good site is www.scfimilitary.com. a lot of people there cast the pieces and sell them. i think they guy menatarms is involved in that also.

www.racprops.com this is the famous richard coyle..he has even built a metal bladerunner pistol (used to sell it also), and incidentally there was a japan sales only pkd pistol that was airsoft a few years ago..a piece of art.

http://props.steinschneider.com/blade_runner/bldrunbl.htm this shows what collectors have done. if you think you are comitted...read this..

http://www.spatcave.com/spatstore2.htm for all your aliens armour needs. thats where i got mine

another great site is masterreplicas. i have bought stuff off them also and are very reliable. again they aint cheap, particularly the signature models. to give you an idea of just how geekie you can become, when getting a signature model..try and get a low number, as the felt pen the actor uses is not damaged and their hand is not tired...yes people are that anal retentive about this...low numbers are worth more. they do a lot of star wars stuff. they have moved into the helmet arena also...there is one of the original helmet deigners in the uk (storm trooper helmets) selling them also as they are direct copies of an original...apparently..if you want to know i will find his name...

if anyone wants to know more...i can dig it up, but i would warn you, it is as addictive as airsoft. also search before you buy, as there are a lot of bad recasters out there, lots and lots of bad ones) i stopped as it was just too expensive and really feeds those accuracy demons that exist (you see it in airsoft also by the way, that ak is all wrong, that m4 is not right etc) so to give you an example, i have 2 blade runner pistols, as the first one had a led light in the wrong place (off by a millimeter or 2) (disgraceful  ) so if you want to become a nutty geek..prop collecting is you.....just be prepared to live on beans on toast for the rest of your life. i would add something tho, some of them, particularly limited editions are worth considering for an investment...and i will be blunt, particularly if an actor is about to die, a horrible thing to say, i know. i have a star trek (TOS- the original series to us trekkie types) model signed by the cast, except 2 of them upped and died before they signed..yes you get that cruel...now if you want to know really cruel..try collecting the original movie pieces..man, thats dog eat dog in that arena...i have witnessed some web fights that IMHO looked like they were going to spill over into the real world..and you need a small fortune...

finally aliens is 21 years old this summer...21...jesus...i am so fecken old..but it is down as one of the classic scifi movies of all times, even now in the top 10 of all time. Finallly, finally, i love 1 scene in AVP, as the actor who played bishop the android or 'artificial person', is in it and does the 'knife thing' with a pen...that was a tribute to the legions of fans of the original aliens, so the story goes. NOW why i hate AVP, well thats even more serious and trust me if you like aliens, this will hurt... james cameron and ridley scott were in discussions about a REAL Aliens 3...very seious discussions as it happens as they were working on a story. now keep in mind this is james terminator, aliens cameron and ridley alien, bhd, blade runner scott (one of the best directors out of england in decades) it was to be a rip roaring adventure with USCM, rumoured original actors, they even had a plot outline...cameron and scott threatened the studios that if they made AVP, they would never make this movie as AVP was pushed by 1 or 2 studio executives at fox (from memory) who believed the alien and predator franchises was dead and this was the only way to get the final dollars out of it). it got all legal and the 2 directors told fox to go **** themselves as AVP was made to feed the gamer world and feed off the original...so AVP is not only ****e, it is responsible for stopping 2 of the greatest action directors of the modern age collaborating on a new aliens movie that they were going to fund considerable amounts of themselves...what a ****ing disaster...so now you know why i despise AVP..AVP is the destruction of 2 franchises...aliens and predator movies..and the decimation of a great scifi movie that was underway by 2 of worlds finest directors...

Falls ... A kindred spirit of the Sci-Fi genre??? Who would have thought it?

And as far as AVP goes, it was an abomination that wrecked two incredible story lines and deserves to be treated the same way as Highlander II - Namely, we get Cameron and Scott to make a film which ignores that piece of tripe and it becomes Alien: The Apology for AVP.

actually excellent point...the highlander things (i wont call them movies) is another complete and utter bastardisation of a great original movie

the best comment i ever heard about highlander...'there can be only one', the catch phrase of the original classic...as one reviewer put it, what a pity the studios didnt listen to that catch phrase..

jeeze was that 1979...bloody hell...now that is still one friggen creepy movie...also if you get a chance check out the extras on the dvd..the cut scenes...as it shows what scott wanted to show originally namely...the hive...and for years before dvd's (yikes) there was a rumour going around aliens circle, that the original had 'something' else. everyone on the film was barred from mentioning it but scott hinted at it on numerous sci-fi conventions at the time in the 80's. so now you know, when the hive appeared in aliens....the penny dropped for a lot of people...

alien was a ground breaker..even the ad for it is creepy...whoa, just got a shiver with that...and that line..in space no one can hear you scream...classic stuff

another did you know, god im on a roll here ..the chest bursting scene..scott didnt tell the other actors what was going to happen....so when john hurt starts laughing and coughing....those initial reactions are real...

okay, i have got to stop..i could go on and on and on and on about alien/aliens all day...god i love those films...

finally i want to be happy today so no one please mention alien 3...for the love of all that is holy...dont mention THOSE movies either. the dreaded sigourney weaver years of control....god spare us from actors who think they know something...

just remebered i have the predator disk (from pred 2) as a resin prop around somewhere as well...

I actually considered building this as a proof-of-concept dealie. My plan though was to replicate the fire power of the Shoulder Blaster's plasma charge by using a single or double MOSCART shower, three visible red lasers and a motion tracking system harvested from one of those awful motion-IR web cams.

Needless to say that have the mechanical aptitude of an autistic child with thumbs instead of fingers this never got off the ground. Still ...

As for Robbie ... I dont know if I want one. But its so very hard to resist.

I always thought it looked a little like Samus' kit from Metroid and a little like the representation of the kit in Starship Troopers the tv show. But maybe thats just me and not a shameless plagarism...

tv show..the computer generated series?? or did i completely miss a STARSHIP TROOPERS GIG!!!!

now i know you probably think i am making this up now...but i do have a resin (unmade) starshiptroopers morita carbine also...forgot completely about that...LOL...christ i have so much crap flaoting around..got it from a guy in germany..and i was bidding on ebay once (my starship troopers claim to fame) it was a stunt model of the carbine, used in the movie...cant remember what it went for, but it was a helluva lot more then i could afford. i am sure by now there must be an airsoft model for a morita...mmmh, man i would get an airsoft one of that , that would definitely go on my list. the gear in starship troopers is bloody expensive, particularly the helmet...

never read the book, but by all accounts its quite good.. whatever happened that director, verhoeven, he was pumping out movies and some scifi stuff and just disappeared??

His latest piece was Black Book, which is not in his usual style of cut-sequences (Robocop, Starship Troopers, Total Recall) but a brilliant WW2 drama completely in Dutch.

As for the novel, Robert A Heinlein's masterpiece and it has NOTHING to do with the film. Verhovens vision is more of a visual piece (with some awful acting) whereas the book is a study of a single soldiers life in a future war. Still worth a look if you like sci-fi.

Oh, and I meant the CGI cartoon.
