Anyone know if this is possible ?
I've a router with a LPT & USB port for using
as a print server with windows.
I'd like to connect a USB drive and access
the files over the network if possible

I take it that USB port is for a USB printer. If it's just a router with an integrated print server, connecting an external USB drive won't do much.

If you want to use a USB hard drive, I'd suggest you look into something like this. You connect the drive(s) to it and then connect it to the router. You access files using an address like \\server-name\username. It works very well for me.

Here's an interesting solution for you from Belkin.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
Both of those would be good solutions.
    I have a old 166Mhz laptop - maybe I could stick a v.light version of linux
on it and work it as a file server. I guess running SAMBA.. any suggestions ?
