Have you had Colonic Irrigation???

    I'm heading in for Colonic Irrigation tomorrow. I've read up on it and asked around a bit. No-one seems to have had it done, or else they're not saying. The reason I'm going is because I've been suffering from fatigue due to high stress and mileage job combined with buying/doing up first house. I also suffer from IBS and constantly feel like I'm bloated and never really feel like I've totally emptied things out. Lastly, I'm 27 and recently I've developed acne again. I consulted my GP and was put on medication for the skin and it did nothing for me. We've isolated a lot of the things that trigger the IBS, but I still get it regularly, though not too severely anymore. Neither of us seem able to sort the fatigue. I have a very good balanced diet, and I've tried vitamins etc recently, but still nackered. So, I've decided to try the CI and maybe that'll help. That's the plan.

    What I want to know is what results have people had from CI? I've read some other threads where basically people who'd had it done seemed to generally say it was really good, and people who hadn't had it criticised it.

    I know it's not scientifically proven, and it's alternative medicine or complimentary medicine depending on who you talk to etc.

    After I have my first one tomorrow, I plan to post a reply and say how I got on. I'm anticipating more indignty than discomfort! If it goes well, I'll follow up with a course. I've been on the pre-CI detox diet for the last week and have lost about 1-2 inches according to the waist of my trousers.

    I'm not looking for opinions on the IDEA of CI, I'm looking for ACTUAL FIRST HAND EXPERIENCES of it both positive and negative. Please, if you haven't had it done, dn't post. I think we're all aware of the for/against theories by now.

    PS I'm going to be paying €100 for tomorrow, but if I take another 2 after that it'll be total €275 for the 3.

    That seems cheap but if it's anything like what a patient has to go through before a colonoscopy it won't be very pleasent or dignified.

    we've discussed this before - there is no evidence base behind doing so whatsoever and the people who do it are not medically trained.

    The human body can clear waste from the bowels itself. Do a detox for a few days and eat a healthier diet and you'll feel better.

    I wonder if the feeling of euphoria people claim to feel after a colonic is in fact a rush of adrenalin released when your body thinks "Oh my god, there is a water hose up my ass!".

    Let's not forget the risk of bowel perforation. It does happen.

    I thought detoxes were supposed to be expensive and useless. In other words nothing your body wouldn't normally do if you consumed certain foods/liquids.

    I've been on a detox for a week, they won't do it unless you have done their detox diet for a week. I know there's no scientific evidence for/against it. I'm basically going to give it a try to see. If conventional medicine hadn't failed me I wouldn't need to be investigating these things. Anyway, what I'm trying to do on this thread is gather some actual first hand experiences about this. Fully aware of the risks. Going in in a couple of hours to have it done.:( Yikes!

    I did it. 5 lbs lighter after than before, but some of that will come back over the next few days as I eat. It felt really strange-like mild diarrhoea pains. Not painful, just really unusual.

    the water goes back out the tube-that was a mystery to me before-the actual logistics of the whole thing. She used hot, then cold, then hot then cold etc. Took about 45 mins altogether. Trousers were loose after! I've got a new diet to follow for th next week, and then I'm to have the 2nd one. And I'm to take acidophilus capsules, aloe vera and linseed oils, some other thing called colon cleanse. It's a lot for now, but I'll stick with it on the off chance that it sorts the IBS, fatigue and skin.

    All in all it's too soon to say what I think or whether I'd recommend it. I think the program as a whole will help me as the diet is very sensible and the oils and supplements are all good. I'm happy anyway.:)

    IIRC most of the calories are adsorbed earlier and it's just some B vitamins that are adsorbed in the large intestine. It's like sweating, or taking diuretics, you loose weight but you really don't

    I loved the expression "you'll fool your weighing scales, but not your tailor"

    Well, most of the weight but not all came back on. I haven't actually followed the diet whatsoever as I've had a going away party and a house party since. In fairness I've ben doing the "opposite to what you were told" diet! I'm so bad! Whether it's because of the CI or not, my IBS has subsided a bit even though I've been eating my usual food. I'm going to wait til I've finished the 3 treatments before I make my final decision. I've definitely started thinking more carefully about my diet though. After this weekend the occasions are over! Watch this space!

    I too suffer from IBS, fatigue etc, but I have it nearly eliminated. Have you tried detox foot patches? I really can't praise them highly enough.

    You can buy these ones in any health food shop and many chemists;
    http://www.naturalife.ie/product.asp?numRecordPosition=3&P_ID=173&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=87
    but they're not as good as others I've found. They don't have enough of whatever does the soaking in the patch so they leak and you get sticky stuff on your sheets. They're also very expensive (E25 for a box of 10).

    These ones are fantastic (also found in many healthfood shops, eg Holland & Barrett);
    http://www.crystalspring.co.uk/product.asp?numRecordPosition=1&P_ID=98&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=12
    but again they're very expensive (about E32 for a box of 14).

    I researched them and this company;
    http://www.healthmarvelsdetoxpatch.com/
    provides the exact same patches (same manufacturer, same exact patches, labels, etc) but without the box.
    Here they are: https://www.healthmarvelsdetoxpatch.com/store/pages.php?pageid=6 It's the Gold TRMX-2 that's the same as you'd buy in a chemist, but you can order them over the internet for a fraction of the cost (eg order 200 patches for about E60, whereas you pay over E30 for a box of 14 in a shop here. The company is based in California and they are very reliable. I've placed repeat orders with them a few times now and the patches arrive in a big cardboard envelope within about ten days.
    These patches (the better ones) are manufactured by Kenrico and their website is here: http://www.kenrico.com/
