Newbie question

    Looking for advice on a HDD recorder, e.g. the Sony RDR-HXD870B with digital tuner.
    I'm told that NTL will come out with a Freview type service next year.
    Would it make sense to get a digital tuner now or wait until NTL announce their service ????

    What's the consensus ?

    I think you're mixing up NTL, which is cable/MMDS, with DCMNR which is doing a DTT (like Freeview) trial in Dublin and surrounds. It's highly unlikely that UPC/NTL will ever offer a free service. Besides, cable and DTT tuners would differ, not compatible.

    Personally, I'd wait until you know for sure what DTT system this country will go with, if ever the service gets past trial stage.
