Reacting to re-steals in tournaments(low content)

    Hi,

I play lots of MTTs...anything from 45 to 180 players.

The level's I play($10-$25) generally throw up a wide range of players, some donkeys, some good.

I'll put up my hand and say that I suck at note-taking, tracking and all that stuff. Mainly because I'm not bothered. I realise it increases profit but I play poker for fun, not for the bankroll, and I don't have that much time to devote to it.

Anyway, I've a pretty ABC tournament game, raise more in late position, fold mostly in early, and my bluffs are usually calculated.

Raising a lot in LP, people frequently try to resteal from the blinds.

Like I said I don't use player ratings but if I've been lose in late position and get reraised, I sometimes smell a rat(depending on how active player I'm up against has been).

So it's folded to me in late position and I raise standard amount, early position then reraises.

Now when I smell a rat, my reads aren't perfect. I just think there's a decent chance that they may be restealing. It doesn't mean I'm going to push with any two.

For the rest of the hands assume blinds 50-100, I raise to 275 or so. BB makes it 850. Also assume we're in fairly early stages with a lot of play left.

    What do I do with:

AA/KK/QQ...(I usually flat call and go for broke)
    AK...(I'm reraising)
AQ...(I'm alternating between calling and folding depending on player)
1010/JJ...(I'm reraising or calling and figuring out where I am after flop)
99-...(call and figure out where I am after flop)
    AJ/A10/KQ...(usually fold, sometimes call)

Any advice on all of this.

Sorry if this is one of those posts where it doesn't make a difference or you can't say without more info.

Honestly with every hand range you mentioned except for AA/KK/QQ, the correct move against a resteal (assuming button v blinds or C/O v blinds) is push. For all that range. Unless you have good reasons for not doing it against a particular player. In the long run if you push that entire range against a resteal it'll work out well.

For a long time restealing has been the new stealing. Like yourself i dont use any software or take notes, but in the current mtt poker climate it's a huge asset to try get a grasp of restealing. How, when, why, how much, who against......

The range of hands for a resteal is probably the widest range of any raising/reraising moves. Obviously it's infinitely easier to reraise all in with A2 from bb against a button raise than it is to do that in any other position. Personally, i've been slowly and steadily rethinking my calling range against resteals, it's situational of course, but in general have a think about widening your calling range.

Been thinking about this actually. I do keep some notes but am unsure how much or what to make note of. Has there ever been a note taking thread?

Is there a free, really easy to use, hassle free, tracking tool?
