Our skiing trip brings us to Meribel in Feb '08.

Flights & accomodation booked.. so now we are looking for transfer options between Geneva & Meribel.

Anyone have any advice on the best deals?

Current quote: €100 per person (return).
Must be able to do better!?

Went to Geneva this year for getting to Meribel, but it was booked as part of a package so they had all the bus transfers sorted. One of our group went by train all the way from the UK though, the line runs as far as Moutiers and there are then local busses from the station to the resorts so that might be an option.

Hey. OIf there is a small group of you (< 6) then try just arriving and slipping one of the reps for crystal or falcon or whoever a twenty each and get a lift with them. I've done this a couple of times and there's never a problem.

Yep, Enda is on to something. A rep that we got chatting to suggested trying that too if there are spaces. However, it didn't suit our party of 4 and we had a nightmare there (3.5 hours, lost driver, 400 euro) and back (cabbie avoided all the toll roads to make a buck and we nearly missed the flight - check in had closed etc etc!!)
The cab ride is only meant to be a couple of hours or so from Geneva. However, the holiday was worth all the aggro. Meribel was fabulous. We had great snow all week. Magical!

There are buses at Geneva airport serving all the main ski resorts in the Tarentaise valley. If there are lot of people going to say Meribel, they will drive there. Otherwise, they'll drop you at the nearest town with a voucher for a taxi up. These buses are very handy, not partularly cheap, but definitely cheaper than 100 euro each.

A cheaper option is to get a train from the airport to Moutiers and get a local bus or even a taxi from the station up to Meribel.

Don't worry, unless you land in the middle of the night, there are lots of options for getting to a big resort like Meribel.

I booked with mountainexpress.co.uk last year to go to Val Thorens, they also go to Meribel. I don't know if you'd get a quote better than €100 each off them. They do private transfers in big people carrier type things. Very nice and very efficient.

I've booked with www.thecoolbus.co.uk this year as mountainexpress only go to Trois Vallée and I'm heading to Les Arcs this year. It's €104 each return. There are 6 of us going. This is good value for a private transfer from Geneva it seems. Our flights are quite late so there wasn't much option with buses.

The more people there are the cheaper it is.

If you're travelling on your own, you might be better trying to hook up with someone getting a private transfer to Meribel. Try www.snowheads.com I think a lot of people on that forum share transfers to save on cost.

Yep we are renting 2 cars from Geneva - will cost us €70 each.

You then have the freedom to come and go on your own timetable instead of the buses.

Im 18 and havent passed my driving test yet so renting a car isnt an option. Iv checked with mountain express and its almost £200 just one way to meribel :-s
does anyone know if it would be easy to get to geneva train station and maybe get a train?

Do a search on there for "Geneva Airport" to "Moutiers" and it certainly looks to be possible although it kept on reverting to the FR site for some reason each time I searched, came up about €30'ish. You'd then need to get a local bus or taxi up from Moutiers

It came up with two options as I started to type in Geneva, one just called Geneva and the other Geneva Airport so I presume that it cannot be far away from where you land.

the airport train station is in the airport in Geneva (downstairs) you will have to get a train into the main Geneva station
