Removing gunge from bodywork

    Hi

I'm sure that I'm not the first to do this but I'm failing hopelessly.

I've removed the decals from my '91 Tenere and as the paint is perfect just want to polish is up but there's a pile of gunge left on the fairings that I just can't get off.

I've talked to bodyshops but when they take off decals its generally for respray work, so they are not very interested in the condition of the paint work when they are finished the removal.

This adhesive stuff is pretty damn tough, has anyone got any experience/recommendations on removing it but not destroying the paint?

    Thanks

Jizer works well , be careful there is no grit embedded in the mucky stuff by now. Usual try it on a small area first/don't come whinging if it all falls off etc applys

I work in a glass shop and I use a product called Oops! to remove sticker residue from mirrors, car windscreens etc. Its water based and won't affect your paintwork. Its available in most good hardware shops.

Petrol on a soft rag should do the trick
