I got an NTL bill yesterday that included a letter saying the rebrand of Chorus and NTL to UPC will occur on October 21st. I wonder if any new services will coincide...

That'd be this leaflet (PDF), wouldn't it?

The rebrand is not before time too. Hopefully it'll mean more channels and a better service for our money.

So it looks like it will indeed be the lowercase logo that will be used in Ireland. Wonder why they went with the old logo on the PVR though...

They were probably already designed and manufactured - especially if they've been using them elsewhere, when only the software needs sorting out

Hopefully the new logo will be rolled out to the DVR. Wonder if the flower will in incorporated too?!?

They have also started replacing old man hole covers in the Limerick area with UPC branded ones where necessary.

The box is exactly the same as the one rolled out in mainland Europe a year or two ago.

I'm pretty sure a simple logo change on the software would have been easy but for whatever reason they must have decided against it (maybe they thought they'd have to change the logo on the remote then too!).

Not sure if this related to the rebrand but i think it is....
www.chorus.ie and www.upc.ie are now just presenting blank pages while www.ntl.ie is working normally, could they finally be updating the websites for the upc rebrand happening later this month?

As opposed to Maynooth's mix of CMI and "Agricultural Drain" written on them :D

Oh, and the estates that had e-nvi (now bankrupt provider) had NTL manholes/wallplates outside the houses oddly.

upc.ie was working earlier today (usual chose your region screen) but that means whatever happened has only just happened. I get the blank screens too.

I just noticed now that upc.ie is down. The NTL site is still there and active. It seems they let their rebrand date slip. :o

Though I did notice that chorus.ie now brings you to NTL.

It's fixed now. I can't help but wonder what they're at. They send out letters telling their customers what's about to happen and then they do nothing.

Have you got a bill yet? From that pdf it only mentions bill changes.

http://chorus.ie brings you to NTL whereas http://www.chours.ie brings you to the Chorus site.... Strange

upc.ie now brings you to the UPC page, not a "Choose your region one" nothing new on it other than the DVR is mentioned on the front page. :(

It's not REALLY a UPC page though. It calls itself Chorus NTL.

The way they've organised this really doesn't give me much confidence in the competence of the new management.

For one thing, what took them so long to do just THIS!!
Second, why on earth are they wasting their time (paid for with customer money I'll add) by rebranding to Chorus NTL, only to rebrand as UPC (hopefully) a few months later? Seriously, what POSSIBLE reason could they have.

Now I realise Virgin Media did something similar, but a rebrand to Virgin hadn't been planned from the outset. In this case, the rebrand to UPC had been.

It also looks ridiculous (the site). It has questions on how to contact "Chorus AND ntl" even though "Chorus NTL" is referred to as *A* UPC company (not "UPC companies"). And then, thrown into the mix is "Log into My UPC". It just looks SO bizarre!

Do NTL and Chorus provide the same digital channels now because when you go to chorus.ie it brings you to the NTL site and only displays the channels NTL offer.Chorus always had alot less than NTL did a few months ago so has that all changed now with the merging of the two that they both provide the same amount of channels everywhere ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,234 ✭✭✭Fresh Pots

thats probably why ntl removed loads of channels and never replaced them.

It's simple - they're trying very hard to distance themselves from NTL and Chorus (and particularly from Chorus!) Both brands are severely tarnished. UPC want their brand to be associated with something good, not 10+ years of sloppy underfunded service.

Watching "the media show" on City Channel today, they were doing a segment on the UPC rebrand of NTL. According to them, the complete rebrand won't happen till early next year.
