530d turbo problems and speakers

    My turbo keeps coming in and out and rearly works in first has any one heard of this problem before. also any 5 series owners have any idea's on beefing up the sound system

    What do you mean coming in and out?

    The in car audio is not the best, you're right. Best plan is to get a Sony "sound on top" amp.

    it dosnt kick in all the time in first and second and is spluttery when is does come in . im trying feul tratment at the moment and its got slightly better but its still a problem

    Is it whistling?

    I dont really notice any turbo kick in mine either - you aren't meant to - its a smooth refined cruiser.

    Turbo should work in every gear surely?

    How do you know it rarely works in first? FWIW - the turbo has no idea what gear you're in, so it's either working - or it's not.

    The list of possibilities is quite long.........

    Could well be a faulty airflow meter. I had this issue on a 320d I was driving, it felt like a Micra until it was rectified.

    Seconded, Faulty MAF makes the ECU think that theres too much, or too little air coming in, hence it pumps in, too little or too much fuel. Resulting in jumpy acceleration and rough idling from startup.

    Could also be a sticky turbo, but MAF is a common one.
