Im looking into going to San Diego next year as i hear not many Irish will be going as much as they did this summer. Also did anyone work in Sea World if so what did you do and was it outdoors.

San Diego is the premiere destination for Irish students on the J1, if you want to avoid other Irish travellers/students then San Diego is not a wise choice

"Not as many" probably means about 6,000 compared to the 7,000 or so this year.*

I wouldn't go there. Some of my friends visited for a few days and they said it was just like being at home, only warmer. They knew EVERYONE they passed on the street.

    *Figures may not be accurate.

I constantly heard Irish accents but met only one person I knew over there - a girl I went to primary school with - and that was on the way to Tijuana.

it's not that bad with Irish people. i went to college at SDSU for 4 years during the height of it's popularity for the J1 and i didn't meet huge amounts of Irish people. PB and MB had large amounts but the city didn't have lots. Although the night life isn't the best in the city. I worked in the city and got to know lots of Americans. Maybe thats why i didn't meet many Irish. And the fact i lived in Tierrasanta didn't help either. You'll have great craic either way. SD is a cool place and its so laid back. and plus there is TJ on wednesday nights where the trolly down to the border feels like a dart on a monday morning.

San Diego is absolutely class and u will have the best summer of your life there. Sun , Sea , Sand, babes, beer etc etc. i would kill to go back this second. The place is overrun with Irish but there are plenty of American students who holiday there, along with tourists and Mexicans, therefore u will not notice all the Irish. Try to live in Pacific Beach or Mission beach (They are basically the same area) but you must get there early to secure accomodation. Truthfully, accomodation is very hard to find so u will have to lie and look for a 12 month lease.
Seaworld is an easy place to work, once again make sure u apply to them ASAP as paperwork and induction can take a few weeks to get sorted out. The only thing u must pass to get a job there is a drugs test and a 10 minute interview.

Go to TJ every Wednesday night and make sure u drive to Vegas
