These TV's are far from the best , there is noticeable movement blur and smearing across all inputs , you need to stick with the major brands as far as buying a flat panel goes at the moment.

That is not a cheap price for a 19 inch either ,

Something like this would be way better ,

See, I thought the same - Can't go wrong with a "name" like Samsung, so I got the 17" version and its truly rubbish. Sound is awful and the blurring and smearing are overwhelming. Any move away from straight on and the picture is terrible as well. It basically a PC Monitor with a TV turner stuck on. A Logik 19" from Currys was far, far better for the money.

I brought back the Samsung to Argos and got a full refund.
Went to Harvey Norman's and got a 19" Philips with loads of connections, HD etc for €350, plus I got an extra 4 year cover for €38. Picture and sound are perfect on this. I'm sure they had the same in Curry's for at least €450.00

im curious about the year cover.. is it accidental damage? If not... you just paid €38 to cover LESS (yes less) than you statutory consumer rights.

What right is that? One year warranty on the TV. Are you saying there is 6 years?

There is a law about " reasonable working life " , which basically says that an appliance must be fit for its purpose for a reasonable amount of time and not just the term of the warranty , so for instance , if you had a one year warranty , and the TV died in two years , you would still be entitled to the usual , repair , replace , refund.

I personally , would never pay for extended warranty , your standard consumer rights should be plenty , and if anyone gives you any hassle the small claims court is only 15 euro.

Been there with an open and shut case - Unfortunately it shut on me.

I ahve seen this referred to before, but have never seen anyone point to the relevant legislation. Do ou have a link?

I wouldn't normally take out the extended warranty apart from my computers, because I used to do their tech Support, and they'd laugh themselves sick at anything longer than 12 months. At €9 per year though, it seemed to good to turn down, even though Philips is normally pretty reliable.
I was going to get it on their "Hisense" brand, which I was going to get first, thats why I thought of taking it.

I got this tv in Argos last week. I'm only using it for bedroom with ps3 and some tv but its perfect for the job. Has loads of imputs. And I got the wall bracket half price also.

No takers on this fabled 6 year "warranty" then? I've searched high and low and can't find anything. Can't see any manufacturer accepting responsibility for their product for so long, even though they should. In the absence of any ammo to put Harvey Norman's straight, i'll stick with their extra warranty, I suppose.
