i saw this idea in total guitar once, you know the grolsch bottles with the lock caps on them, well there's a little(usually orange) rubber ring on them. put the strap on the guitar as normal, and slip said ring over the (brain has completely effaced the name of the thing that holds the strap on) thingy, i'm so embarrassed that i just said that. anyway its a great (cheap) way of keepin yer guitar strap on, it works a treat and grolsch ain't too bad to drink either so its a win win situation.
    enjoy grolsch senselessly

Strap button :p Aye, use them on my bass. Don't think I'd trust any of my more expensive guitars with them but for cheap guitars, they're great.

ain't there a thread here that shows the damage of using cheap strap-locks?

    Edit:careful now!

6 inches of duct tape will outperform any grolsh bottle washer. Put the strap on for life™ :)

Just buy a set of Schaller strap locks. I put em on every guitar I own

Here's my contribution to this vitally important topic:
If your guit will fit in its case with the strap on (e.g. Strat) then Grolsh is yer only man. Just ask Dave Gilmour.;)
But if you need to take the strap on and off frequently then you need something else.

Personally, I use DiMarzio Cliplock straps, and I'd recommend nothing else. Honestly, if they're good enough for the likes of Vai, Petrucci, Satriani to use on tour, I think that speaks volumes about the quality. And... Karl Hungus uses them! That fact should be enough for most people here. ;)

Put the strap on and wrap several elastic bands around the strap holder nut yoke! Thats what I do :)

No, sadly not. And Grolsch is not bad at all either.

ah the aul bottle stopper technique... it's what I use, though I got the rings off Flensburger Weizzen and a Flensburger Gold. It's a good excuse to buy pricey beers.

i'm quite proud of this thread, its the biggest response to a thread i've posted yet. some serious, some taking the relaxed attitude i take to actually playing guitar. but in fairness a lot of the "mcgyver" techniques for caring for your guitar originated with master guitar players doing unorthodox things, such as hendrix switching the strings around on a right handed guitar. i don't exactly know what my point is, but feel free to extrapulate... hehe see what i did? that was completely unintentional.

you shouldn't need an excuse to buy pricey beers.

Yeah ya do.... those stopper top beers are over priced relative to other superior beers, yet a sample is nice every now and then. It's also a good excuse to buy a new guitar :D

I use the DiMarzio Cliplock straps too, much better than the finicky Fender/Schaller straplock setups.
